A Fond Farewell to Mr. Ng Lai Kian

22nd September was a nostalgic day for teachers and students alike of SMJK Hua Lian. Mr. Ng Lai Kian, who served faithfully in our school since 1989, retired amid a flurry of activities prepared especially for him. A tea party was held in honor of Mr. Ng by the teachers. Following that, Mr.Ng graced the school hall to enjoy some presentations especially for him. Students wished him a happy retirement, and many did not fail to present gifts to their favorite teacher.

Almost all of Mr. Ng's life was spent in schools. After acquiring the HSC certificate in 1964, he became a temporary teacher in St. George's Institution, Taiping, from 1965 to 1968. In 1969, Mr. Ng went to the Malaysian's Teacher's College before proceeding to SM Jitra, Kedah in 1970. In 1971, Mr. Ng was transferred back to Taiping. He taught at SM Tengku Menteri, Changkat Jering, for ten years, before being transferred to Sm Dato Idris, Pantai Remis in 1982. In 1989, Mr. Ng was posted to our school, and spent the reamaining 11 years of his career  nurturing Hua Lian students.

Mr. Ng was very much been part of the school since he arrived. From 1989 to1997, he was part of the team of teachers who worked hard each year  to ensure class schedules. He was also in charge of Form 3  internal examinations from 1989 to 1991. He also managed the schools furniture from 1996 to 1997.

Mr. Ng taught Form 3 and Form 4 Mathematics during his years at SMJK Hua Lian. Many of his students have successfully graduated. his presence in our school will be sorely missed, but his contributions to our school will not be forgotten for a long time to come.
