The Henry Medina Archives and Services is a private collection amassed over 35 years by private Researcher and Collector, Henry Medina Jr. The collection deals with the African Diaspora to the new world and Latin music dance forms and related subjects. Our multi media archives and services are available for your projects and needs.Our archives are opened to World Media, T.V., Film, Newspaper, Magazine and Book Projects. Our archives also work with all Educational Institutions, Museums, Theater and Performing Spaces. Our extensive and rare memobilla collection will enhance your projects and ideas! Our consultation services are available on demand. Submit your proposals for our evaluation and consideration. OUR COLLECTION IS DIVIDED IN VARIOUS CATEGORIES: 1). Photographic Images 1850's-1990;s, Africa, Spain, The Caribbean Islands, North, Central and South America. Our photographical collection is divided into various categories like, Albumen prints, Stereoview (flat and curve mounts), CDV's (Cartes de Visite), Glass Slides, Postcards and Photographs. 2). Early Newspapers , Pamphlets and Graphics related to American and Caribbean Slavery, Abolition and Slave Revolts, Plantation views,1750's-1890's. 3). Rare Books related to the African Slave trade, African societies in the new world and historical related graphic images plus related materials 1800's-1990's. 4). Sheet Music with cover art graphics and photos related to Black Dance and music. Examples like Voodoo, Tango, Son to Mambo 1890's-1950's . 5). American, Mexican and Foreign Motion Picture movie posters and lobby cards related to Latin music and dance forms and related material 1920's-1950's. 6). 16 inch. Radio transcription broadcast recordings and related catalogs, 1930's-1960's dealing with Latin music Trios, Vocalist, Conjuntos, Orchestras and transcriped Latin music shows. 7). Stock Film Footage of American, Mexican and Foreign, 16mm, 8mm films and Videos related to Travelodge, Latin music, Jazz and black dance music 1920's-1990's. Our Stock film footage also has views related to, Industry, Agricultural and production of Tobacco, Military, City and town views, Dance and dance clubs. 8). Sound recordings and Cover art work on 78rpm, 10inch, 45ep's and 12inch albums related to Latin music and black dance 1940's-1980's. 9). Live recordings (Radio air checks, interviews, Field record[ngss) of Latin music groups from N.Y.,Puerto Rico and Cuba, 1940's-1990's. 10). The Henry Medina Latin music oral history interview project (On-going). A collection of interviews with musicans, dancers, and persons dealing with Latin music history and traditions. 11). Memobillia related to the, Puerto Rican protest movement in the United States (Perticularly, New York and Chicago) for it's civil and human rights and for it's independence of Puerto Rico. The collection includes, Newspapers, Photos, Magazines, Posters and related material. LATIN MUSIC FILM AND VIDEO PRESENTATIONS ARE AVAILABLE and hosted by Mr. Henry Medina ( his 29th year). Born in 1952 and raised in the South Bronx. He formerly worked on WKCR-F.M. N.Y. Latin music department during the very early 1980's as program director and also hosted a Latin music program called "Alma Latina". He also worked on Latin music special projects on WBAI-F.M. radio station during the 1990's. Mr. Medina has also produced video projects related to Latin music and has an ongoing "Oral History Project" documenting many historically important musicians, vocalist, dancers, writers and persons related to the Latin music traditions. Since 1979 Mr. Medina's film archive collection has been featured in many independent film and TV video productions in United States and around the world. His private collection has been amassed over 35 years encompassing rare photography, movie memobilla, sheet music, rare books, newspapers, rare graphics, records, radio broadcast and live recordings, historical documents and rare films and videos.
