I am pleased to announce that the BOYD Y-DNA Project
has begun and I am the Project Manager.
Y-DNA testing for males with the BOYD and HAY surnames.
Goals are:
1) to establish genetic connections with cousins worldwide
2) to compliment genealogical research through genetics.
3) To prove or disprove various theories of the origin of the BOYD name.
4) To establish a genetic link with the BOYDs of Kilmarnock.
5) To establish a genetic connection with descendants of James BOYD
who changed his name to HAY when he became the 15th Earl of Errol in 1758.
6) To research a genetic connection with Clan Stewart.
Here's how it works:
1. I order your DNA kit from the lab.
2. They send it to you with an invoice.
3. You collect your DNA sample
4. Sign the release form
5. Return it to the lab with payment.
Your name will be entered in the database shortly after I
place the order. The test results will be added as soon
as your DNA has been processed. Please be patient this does take some time.
You will be notified by email of the status of your test.
Cost:
The BOYD-YDNA Peoject exclusively uses a 25 marker YDNA test that regularly
costs over $200. This is the most accurate test available anywhwere.
By participating in this project you will be charged only $169.00.
Plus a small shipping fee. [About $2.00. Slightly higher overseas]
This is the lowest on the Interent that I could find.
The fee charged covers only the cost of processing your DNA sample. All funds
are retained by the lab. No proceeds go to the House of Boyd or myself.
Why not be one of the first to participate?
It does not cost anything to order a DNA kit. You remit
payment when you send your DNA sample back to the lab.
This is the latest thing in genealogy. It may be easier
to prove a genetic connection to a BOYD ancestor or
BOYD cousin than by the usual paper trail. Knowing
that a genetic connection exists will help focus your
research.
Your participation in the project is important . This is
an international project to bring the BOYD clan closer
together and track the migration of our ancestors and
cousins.
