| On a lonely desert highway, In the afternoon sun, Nothin' good is going my way, Apathy and despair have won. I'm ramblin' on down the road, Waitin' for death to come, Then a motel appears down the road, No idea where it came from. I stop in the lobby, Ask for a room and a meal to eat, The receptionist was very kind, She gave me drink, bread and meat. I had my fill then went to my room, It was plush and full of life. I fell asleep, dreamt of doom, A life full of agony and strife. When I awoke I was on the sand, Not a thing was around, not even my bed. I was rested and my stomach was full, But once again I was left for dead. Somehow I made it back home, And led a full life and normal job. I'll ne'er understand from where the motel appeared, But it saved my life, then I started to sob. I wrote this for an english assignment. I wasn't very proud of it but it was last minute and I just finished listening to the Eagle's Hotel California. It didn’t have to be an original work, in fact it was suggested we base it on a story or song we heard. |
