GPFI's Series On Cultural Relevance

Home

ABOUT THE GPFI:

The Greg Poulos Film Institute (GPFI) was created by Gregory Poulos in the November of 2002 as a side result of the formation of the Nick Poulos Film Institute (NPFI). The GPFI was formed to increase awareness for the cinematic arts worldwide.

In order to reach this lofty goal, we here at the GPFI have created a list of films spanning all genres and eras of moviedom, and we dubbed this list the "Series On Cultural Relevance". Every week, two of these movies are selected at random for viewing. After a certain movie has been shown, it is removed from the list and replaced by another movie waiting in a seperate list known as the Movie Queue.

The efforts of the GPFI have not gone unnoticed. In the winter of 2003 the GPFI's wholly owned and operated theater, the POULOSPLEX, was offered a generous financial grant from the Creticos-Poulos Society for the Advancement of Basements (CPSAB). The POULOSPLEX recieved a marvelous makeover, complete with a new screen, a magnificent sound system, luxuriuos seating, and new technical equipment, all designed to create the ultimate movie viewing experience possible for our patrons.

But what does this mean for you? It means that the GPFI, through its wonderful partnership Kwality Co., is fully prepared to bring YOU into the wonderful world of the silver screen! You are cordially invited to the POULOSPLEX every time there is a screening of a movie as a part of the Series On Cultural Relevance. However, if you do plan on attending one of these showings, please contact Greg a little while before you plan on showing up. You will also probably need to provide your own transportation to and from the POULOSPLEX.

POULOSPLEX UPDATE!!! (9/7/05)

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the GPFI's Series on Cultural Relevance has been tossed into a (hopefully) temporary state of limbo. The GPFI's 18-month contract with the POULOSPLEX has run out. Meanwhile, GPFI founder Greg Poulos has left the Chicagoland area in order to continue his education in the Boston metropolitan area. The GPFI Board of Trustees is currently deciding whether to keep the Series on Cultural Relevance a POULOSPLEX exclusive, or to move SOCR operations to another GPFI-affiliated theater located in Cambridge. More updates as they come.

THE MOVIES (FOR THE WEEK OF ___):
NO NEW MOVIES TO BE ANNOUNCED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
[sorry.]

CONTACT ME IF YOU INTEND TO ATTEND A SHOWING AT THE POULOSPLEX!
MOVIES AND TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

The list itself is arbitrarily broken up into 6 groupings of 20 movies each. The ordering of the movies is completely random, and the grouping only exists to accomodate the random selection process that takes place weekly here at the GPFI. The movies themselves are only able to make the list after either being accepted by the GPFI, so feel free to suggest to Greg any movies that you think deserve to be on the list, and he will ceratinly consider them.
