Analysis ~ by Charissa Chosen-Flame:

Christanius's past is, in a word, mysterious to most. What isn't common knowledge to the United States Paranormal Research Guild is only divulged to those closest to him. To grasp even the basics of his inner workings one must delve into his past.

Christanius was born in 1891 in California, a state at which time had barely come into its own. Christanius was an oddity with one parent of Korean descent and another of German. Because of the time period; a child of mixed bloods such as he wasn't smiled upon, as is such the reason that he was born and raised an only child. He was easily able to cope and actually enjoy his self imposed isolation; solely behooved upon himself because he did not enjoy playing with children his age nor did he find them intellectually stimulating. This was because he had matured fast, often being typified as an old soul.

His childhood was quiet and calm and his only friends were his art (a talent which his parents nurtured from birth) and a boy by the name of Ailen who had become all but vital to Christanius. Christanius's bond to Ailen was powerful, and despite the nurturing relationship Ailen's parents wanted their son to keep to the family. They took him and moved to Germany to break up their friendship for good. Utterly devastated, Christanius internalized his feelings and became more private than ever.

Upon hitting his twentieth year his parents were killed instantly in a carriage accident of unknown cause. Feeling that fate was conspiring against him to some degree, he left his homeland and moved to Germany to search for his long lost friend. He settled in Hamburg, deciding his best chances of finding Ailen were in cities whose populations exceeded a million. During his time there, walking home late one evening, he was bitten and sired by a vampire who shortly thereafter disappeared, leaving only a note apologizing for the blood lust and a simple explanation of what he had become. This experience did not dampen his spirits in the slightest. He searched for Ailen as best as he could: going so far as get a job in the department of records, yet even after many years his search yielded no results.

Christanius was barely twenty-three and was still in the department of records when he met Fritz Weber. Fritz was a gentle man and the two became inseparable. Unfortunately that same year was the year of the Great War and Fritz, being a "youth of the Fatherland", enlisted. (Christanius escaped this solely because his job was of great importance.) Upon Fritz’s return he had received many badges for his battle wounds. Because he had not died he had earned the nickname "unsterblicher" German for immortal or undying. He divulged to Christanius that he was in fact a vampire (Unbeknownst to them, the very one who had turned him several years ago). Christanius revealed the same story; much to their amusement.

They remained companions to one another, when Germany became involved in the Second World War. Fritz did not resist the draft despite his pacifistic nature. In fact, he flew through the ranks becoming a Standartenfuhrer of the notorious LSSAH, better known as the 1st Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. He was highly decorated, garnering an SS Honor ring, Long Service Award, Panzer Assault Badge, and a Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. Many thought him to be the perfect model for the Nazi ideal, tall, blonde, dedicated to his country and of (as they said) "impeccable moral stature". However he would prove to be a disappointment to the fascist regime when he met and became the ally of Claus Schnek Graf von Stauffenberg. Fritz had joined the military to further a goal he shared with Claus; to get close to Hitler and assassinate a man both of which considered to be one of earth's greatest evils. Unfortunately this plot seemed to apparently fail by a few heart-wrenchingly small mistakes.

In actuality Otto Koenrig, an ex-USPRG member was the cause. A true follower of the Nazi regime, Otto had betrayed the USPRG and began to round up all of its members and supporters who were unlucky enough to be in Germany at time, including a certain Ben Lassen. Being so close to the Fuhrer, Otto was able to investigate all of the Fuhrer's top agents and supporters, including Fritz and Claus. After searching their personal records and documents he was able to head off the two assassins upon finding evidence of their treasonous ways. He dampened their hidden bombs and moved them before the explosion, saving Hitler from certain death. Otto then moved on to track down the would-be assassins of Hitler. Claus and almost all of his conspirators were killed, and (so it was documented) Fritz as well. Otto, in his rage, destroyed all traces of Fritz and his military accomplishments, bitter with the “betrayal of the Fuhrer.”

Christanius refused to believe Fritz was lost to him.

He stayed in Germany for many years working as a historian and artist whence enough years went by in his records job to arouse suspicion, hopping from place to place to conceal his immortality; all in hopes of finding those lost to him. He continued to pine, passing through Germany like a lost spirit. In 1990, he boarded a train to visit a WWII memorial, thinking it one of the only ways to connect back to Fritz and the early twentieth century he felt so close to.

Finding all the other cabins full, Christanius went to the very last, finding available seating next to a Professor Benjamin A. Lassen. Ben, sensing his aura and great sadness, decided to try befriending him. On the ride to the memorial they got to know one other and found they were actually closely involved in many of the same events and people during WWII. Ben informed Christanius of the USPRG branch in California, and its records department (which at the time was understaffed). Figuring he might find something about Fritz, Christanius decided it was worth the risk to leave Germany. He moved back to California in 1991, securing a job in the department of records (although he occasionally goes on field work; wielding a kusari-gama in which his skills are unmatched by any), hiding away in a concealed home within the Redwood forest. Feeling blessed about his wonderful childhood with Ailen and having known Fritz, if only for the years they had, he tries not to feel bitter about the past.

However, he has now come to adopt the belief that he is destined to lose any friends and loves he gains; as he already had. He does his best not to feel lonely and instead this "belief" has simply further sobered his serious nature. Because of this, his only companions currently are his dreams, his art, and his books (his favorite being the Lord of the Rings).

If one were to meet him they would find him to be introverted, serious, sarcastic, devoted to his personal morals, loyal, deeply thoughtful and wise, with perhaps a lingering air of loneliness. Negatively he can be prideful, and easily offended by offhand remarks. He is a closet romantic and dreamer, one day wishing to find out the story (and ending) of the mortal Ailen’s life, and the whereabouts and condition of Fritz.

Likes: Fantasy and sci-fi, elves (of the Lord of the Rings variety), the metaphysical, history, games, close friends (if he had any), reading and art. He has a great respect for people who are dedicated to living by their own personal morals and wishes.

Dislikes: Superficial people, people who go against personal standards, criticism, being tricked/taken advantage of, and people who judge others for the lives they lead.

Distinguishing Features: Christanius has bangs and longish brown hair with the other hair colors evenly and lightly dispersed throughout. He has light brown eyes with a dark brown ring around the outside. Christanius bears numerous scars on his knees and elbows, including a few on his hands and one faint one on the tip of his nose. He also always wears pants, boots, a long sleeved shirt, and suspenders (a habit from his 1940’s days), no matter the weather. He keeps photos of Ailen and Fritz on him at all times; the only people he ever loved.
