Not really. A limited amount of weapons are provided, and the hobbit can always make his/her own. A small monthly charge may be asked by the Realm Leader and/or Council of Hobbits.
My child doesn't want to make weapons, but he wants a certain kind/shape/size. Can I buy weapons?
Absoloutely. You may by weapons from the Rising Sun Armory(Discounts available), the Action Armory, or sometimes another hobbit will have some to sell.
Is it safe?
As much as we would all like to believe we are invincible, no. It is made as safe as possible, by padding and rigorously checking the weapons, having responsible heralds on the field and strict rules, but this is a full contact game. While the chance of injury is minimized as much as possible, the children ARE hitting each-other with swords. But, for the average pre-teen male, Hobbit Wars is just as safe as playing at a playground.

What if there is not a Realm near me?
Then you can start one! Simply EMAIL Phoenix, and he will provide you with a list of contacts from Dagorhir, Belegarth and Amtgard near you who can help you with weapons/shields and garb, and a short checklist of things to do.
