Chapter 1

Megan was a 17-year-old. Megan lived in Memphis Tennessee. She was a very good student and enrolled in college a year early because she skipped 1st grade. She didn’t think of her self-smart because she wasn’t
that smart. She was adventurous. When she was 16 her dad, best friend, her dad and her bungee jumped off a
bridge and when she turned 17 they sky dived at 15,000 feet. She always wanted to be on Road Rules and she
knew she couldn’t but she would turn 18 on the 5th day of the trip and she never knew what could happen and
wished that the outcome would be good. Megan had a broken right ankle. She had a plastic boot on her
foot. She wasn’t suppose to walk on it but she does any way.

Phone Conversation

Unknown: hello
Megan’s Dad: hello
Unknown: may I speak to Dennis Quann
Dennis: this is he
Unknown: hi, I am Kerri, and I am a coordinator for the series Road Rules
Dennis: yes
Kerri: well I am calling to congratulate your daughter on making it onto the cast.
Dennis: she did, but why are you telling me this
Kerri: well my team spent 4 days and 9 meetings to discuss whether Megan should be excepted to Road Rules
or Real World. We figured out that since Megan is only 17, we didn’t want to put her in a situation in a
house with way older people and Road Rules doesn’t have that many older people. We called you because I
am going to fax you some papers that you have to sign because of your daughters age and I tell you not to
tell your daughter that she’s excepted until you send back the papers.
Dennis: thank you, I’ll do that
Kerri: yea, bye
Dennis: bye

Megan’s dad received the papers, he read them over and signed them and sent them back. Then he walked up to
Megan’s room

Dennis: Megan, I need to talk to you so get off thephone

Megan: Nick I got to go my dad needs to talk to me
Nick: call me back, I love you
Megan: me too, bye
Nick: bye

Megan: dad what do you want
Dad: I want to talk to you about a phone call I just received
Megan: did I do something wrong
Dad: well, you know that we bungeed jumped 2 years ago and last year we sky dived for your birthday, well we
can’t go rock climbing this year for your birthday
Megan: (crying) dad why you know I loved to do those things
Dad: because you’re not going to be here for it
Megan: what do you mean
Dad: well you are going to do more extreme things than that for 8 weeks
Megan: what
Dad: you are going to live with 5 other people in a Winnie
Megan: hello, give me a clue
Dad: well its called Road Rules 6
Megan: oh my gosh, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, your kidding right
Dad: no honey you leave in exactly 2 weeks so get packing and remember that you can only take stuff that
fits in these two bags

Pulling out a road rules backpack and a carrier. Megan went to go call her boyfriend back

Nick: hello?
Megan: hey Nick guess what
Nick: hello to you too
Megan: oh sorry, hello
Nick: what?
Megan: I get to go on Road Rules for 8 weeks
Nick: serious, I am going to miss you
Megan: I know but I’ve always wanted to do this
Nick: yeah I know, but you’re leaving me
Megan: I don’t leave for anther 2 weeks
Nick: well we can spend time together, I’ve got to go ok
Megan: talk to you later, I love you
Nick: I love you too, bye

Nick always wanted Megan to go away for awhile so he can peruse his music career and he had a deep dark
secret that he didn’t want Megan to know. Nick hid it so well and hopefully Megan wouldn’t find out. They
hung out for the next week and a half and Megan dreaded leaving him. Megan packed as much as she could because she wasn’t known for carrying too much stuff. She put much of her stuff in the big carrier and the
essentials in the book bag. She was so excited to leave to be adventurous and meet 5 other people. The
day she was leaving.

Mom: honey its 8:00 you’ve got to get up
Megan: ok, I’m coming

Megan was up and awake 20 minutes later. She wasn’t tired at all and it surprised her because she is
usually always tired after waking up that early. Her dad just walked into the room.

Dad: hey Megan, we leave in 20 minutes ok
Megan: ok dad, I love you

In that 20 minutes Megan made her last phone calls and carried her luggage downstairs to the car and was ready to go. About a half-hour later she was at the terminal in the airport ready to go and saying her good byes.

Megan: mom I am going to miss you
Mom: yeah me too and your going to call your dad and I right?
Megan: yeah I will, I don’t know when but I will call, I love you, bye
Mom: I love you too and bye
Dad: have fun kiddo and don’t party too hard on your birthday
Megan: I won’t I love you and I got to go bye
Dad: I love you, bye
