Chapter 22 JC knocked on Justin's front door. He figured Sam was still there. He hoped she was. If she was back at her apartment, he wouldn't be able to see her until Sarah and Bri weren't around. And knowing those two, Sam wouldn't be left alone for a few weeks. Justin opened the door. "You can't see her, JC. Go away." "Why can't I see her?" "She's asleep, and she doesn't need you to break her heart again. Leave her alone. You've done enough damage." "Don't I at least deserve a chance to make it up to her?" "JC, you called her a slut, compared her to your fiancee, made her feel like last night as all her fault, and made her think she was trash. I don't think you can make it up to her." "Lesley and I broke up. I need to explain thing to her. Please let me talk to her." "JC, she's asleep. After crying herself to sleep, she'll probably sleep for another few hours. Then it's up to her. All I have to tell you is that if you hurt her again, Sarah and Bri are going to kill you." JC nodded his head. "I'm surprised they haven't killed me yet. Tell her I came by and we need to talk." "I don't know how she'll take it, but okay." ~~~~~~~ Sam slowly opened her eyes. She didn't want to get up, but her body wasn't going to let her sleep any longer. She rolled from the bed and stumbled to the bathroom. She turned the shower on and stood under the warm water for a few minutes, letting the water loosen her muscles. Sam sighed. She felt like shit, and probably looked like it, too. When she was done, Sam stared at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were dull; lifeless. Her skin seemed pale and her hair was a disaster. Sam pulled her clothes on and walked out of the bathroom, looking around the room. Even if she didn't remember from earlier that day, she would know it was Justin's. Baby blue was everywhere. She walked out of the room, and following her nose, down to the kitchen. Justin was making dinner. "So you finally awaken!" Justin exclaimed. He pushed her down in a chair and put a plate in front of her. "Eat." Sam looked at the food. Chicken, baked potato, pasta salad. Some of her favorites. She sighed, "I don't feel like eating." She pushed the plate away and rested her head on the table. Justin stared at her. "Sam, you have to eat." He was genuinely worried about her. Sam was on e of the people who could constantly eat, but never gained weight. She loved food and never refused it. "You have to be hungry. You haven't eaten since dinner yesterday." "Actually, I didn't have dinner. I was too busy to get something. So the last time I ate was noon yesterday." "Then you have to be hungry. It's been over 24hrs since you ate." Justin sat in a chair across from her, with his food. This was worrying him; Sam would skip meals occasionally, but didn't like to and wouldn't skip three meals. Sam lifted her head and looked at Justin. "Actually, I'm not hungry." She pulled the plate closer to her and stared at her food. "I don't feel anything right now." Justin watched her play with her food, pushing it around the plate. Her head was bowed, but the one glimpse of her eyes he'd caught was imprinted on his mind. Even after JC had announced his intent to propose, and then his proposal, Sam hadn't looked like that. Her eyes still had a sparkle in them. Now her eyes were hollow. It was almost as though everything inside had been ripped out. "Did I tell you about the blonde who........" Justin began " "Justin, please don't," Sam interrupted. "All you will accomplish is getting me to fake a laugh." Justin sighed. JC, dude you've got a lot to make up to her he thought. You've hurt her more than anyone realized. Hurt her again and i won't let anyone pull Sarah and Bri off of you. "Do you want to go home?" Justin asked. "I'm going to call Sarah and Bri and tell them you're up. But if you want, you can stay here." "Thank you," Sam mummered softly. "I really appreciate it. Please ask Sarah and Bri to bring some clothes over for me." "Oh yeah, Sarah set up an appointment at the doctors for you. Tomorrow, at one." Sam nodded. She thought about the reason behind the appointment. The possibility of a child. Suddenly her eyes filled with tears, tears she thought were gone. She buried her face in her hands. Justin moved around the table and gathered her in his arms, once again letting her cry on his shoulder. "Why, Justin?" Sam sobbed. "Why did he say those things? Is it the thought of having a child, messing up his career, screwing up his relationship with Lesley?" "I don't know," Justin answered truthfully. He'd never seen JC act that way before. "Or is it me? Does the thought of my having his child disgust him that much?" Justin pulled away from her and pulled her hands away from her face. "It isn't you. Trust me, Sam. What ever's wrong with JC is his problem, and doesn't involve you." Tears shimmered on Sam's long black eyelashes, made her green eyes seem even more beautiful. ~~~~~~ "Why?" she asked again. "I don't know. He needs to figure it out himself." Sam's tears gradually stopped. She pulled away from Justin. "I soaked your shirt," she said. "That's okay."" "I'm going to go lay down. I'm tired." She yawned. "Choose any room you want," Justin told her. "Thank you." Sam walked out of the dining room and up the stairs. She picked out a room, pulled off her shoes, and laid down. Sleep came almost instantly Justin called Sarah and Bri. They were home. "She woke up about an hour ago," Justin explained. "We talked for a few minutes then she started crying again. She just went back to sleep." "I want to kill JC," Sarah muttered. "Did you tell her about the doctor's appointment?" "That's what made her cry. it's okay if she stays over here. I'll make sure she gets to the doctors." "We'll bring some things over for her," Bri said. "and tomorrow we'll meet you at the doctor's office. And if she wakes up in the next few hours, tell her to call George. He's worried about her." "I'll have her call if she wakes up. If he calls you, tell him to call over here." Justin paused. "JC and Lesley broke up." "How do you know?" Sarah asked. "He came by earlier, wanting to see Sam. He told me then." "You didn't let him see her, did you?" Sarah asked. "No. I told him she was sleeping and it was her choice." "If he hurts her again, I'm going to hurt him," Sarah exclaimed "I'll help you," Bri said. "Please don't let him near her." "What if she says' it's okay?" Sarah and Bri sighed. "If she wants to see him, then it's okay," Bri said. "But make sure he realizes that if she gets hurt by him one more time, we'll make him regret it." "That I can and will do," Justin told them. "And I won't let anyone stop you." "Even if you and the other guys and all your bodyguards tried to stop us," Sarah replied. "We'd still hurt him." ~~~~~~~~ George called Justin at six, wanting to make sure Sam was okay. "We don't leave for Europe until November," George told Justin, "So she has all the time she needs to recover." "I'll tell her you called," Justin said. "I'll have her call you tomorrow." "Thank you." Sam slept all night. She woke up at eight the next morning, to the smell of bacon. She took a quick shower, and found clothes on a chair in the bedroom. She walked downstairs to the kitchen. Justin was cooking breakfast. "Would you like some help?" Sam asked. "Nope, I've got everything under control, " Justin told her as he flipped the pancakes. "Go sit down, relax. Do you want OJ or milk?" "OJ," Sam replied. "But I can get it." Sam found a glass and poured herself some orange juice. She sat at the table thinking about her future. She hoped she wasn't pregnant, if she was, she'd have to give up modeling for a year or so until she'd had the baby and he was old enough to travel with her, or she could leave him. Justin sat a plate in front of her. "Eat up," he told her, sliding in a chair across from her. Sam looked at the plate. "Justin, we don't know if I'm pregnant yet. If I eat all of this, and let you continue to feed me, I'm going to get huge." "Eat," Justin demanded. "Even if you aren't pregnant, it won't hurt you to eat." "Damn interfering friends," Sam muttered, picking up a piece of bacon and taking a bite of it. "I just realized how hungry I was. This is good." Sam finished off her bacon and started in on her pancakes. When she finished with her breakfast she looked at Justin. "Got anymore?" Justin Laughed. "And you weren't you just complaining about how much weight you're going to gain?" "I'm hungry." Sam walked in the kitchen and found the rest of the bacon. She carried the plate to the dinning room and sat down. Justin reached for a piece. Sam pulled the plate closer to her. "Mine." "Can't I have one?" Justin begged, a puppy dog look on his face. "No. And don't give me that look." Sam swiveled in her chair, turning her back on Justin. "It ain't gonna work." "I don't get any," Justin pouted. Sam giggled. "Not from me." Justin realized what the said and started laughing. "I didn't mean it that way." "Yeah, sure, Justin. You didn't mean that in a sexual way and miracles happen everyday." "They do." "Then show me one." "I cooked; that's a miracle." Sam laughed. "And for that, I'll give you a piece of bacon." "Only one?" "Be happy with that. I haven't had bacon in months. If a miracle hadn't occurred this morning, you wouldn't get any." She held up the piece of bacon. Justin took it from her with his teeth. |
