Chapter 14

The next three months had been a living hell for everyone. Brittni had sunk into a depression that no one could seem to help. Joey had taken her to a few doctors, but each one of them had said the same thing: That they couldn't prescribe her to anything because of the pregnancy. If they did, there could be severe damage to the child.  So everyday, in order to keep her healthy, Joey would take Brittni out on a walk after breakfast. Everyone had taken turns watching over Justin, because, after spending two months with his heartache, he finally let himself go, and he almost overdosed on painkillers. The guys were able to reach him in time, and they immediately rushed him to the hospital. It was the hardest for him when Joey came over because, he was who Brittni was living with, he was the one who got to see her, and talk to her everyday. He had tried calling, and coming over, but nothing seemed to work. She wouldn't give him the time of day.

When word got out to the press about their break-up, it was everywhere. It seemed as though almost every detail of what happened was somehow let out. For some, Justin had turned into the bad guy. People thought that he had purposely cheated on Brittni, and that hurt him even more, nothing that had happened was any of his fault. Amanda had been released from her 30-day sentence in prison, and she was admitted into a mental-health center because of her obsession over Justin. He never showed up to any gigs, and practices anymore, and yet, no one could blame him. The guys had had their long serious talks with Justin and they had all come to the same conclusion. Justin didn't do anything. It wasn't his fault. Amanda had planned this out all along, they just couldn't get Brittni to believe it. If only there was some way to get her to see.

Joey paced back and forth in front of Brittni's bedroom door, where he could hear her crying. He was somewhat still debating the whole issue, he needed to know for sure. Going downstairs, he picked up the phone and dialed the operator.

"Yes, hello, this is Joey Fatone, and I need the number to Sunny view Mental Health Center."
"Ok sir, would you like me to connect you right through?"
"Yes please."
"Alright, one second."

"Hello, Sunny view Mental Health Center, this is Joyce speaking, how may I help you?"
"Hello, my name is Joey Fatone, and I need to come in and speak to one of your patients, Amanda Scott. Is there any specific time that I would be able to come in and see her?"
"All visiting hours are, Monday though Friday from 10:00 am-7:30pm, and on Saturdays from 11:00am-6:00 pm."
"Alright, thank you."
"Your welcome sir, have a nice day"
"You too, goodbye"
He hung up and immediately called JC to see if he could watch over Brittni while he went to visit Amanda, every since Justin attempted to kill himself, they didn't leave their eyes of either of them for a second. He agreed to watch her and so he ran upstairs to get Brittni. He opened the door, and found her in her usual spot curled up on her bed with bunches of Kleenexes on the floor.
"Come on honey, were going out."
She sat up at sniffed.
"Where?"
"Well I have to go run some errands, so your going over to JC's."
"Don't be stupid Joe, I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself."
"Maybe, but you're going to JC's just so I can be a little more sure that you're safe."
"Ugh, ok." She got up from the bed and stretched out her back. Her six-month pregnant stomach very much visible. Resting her hand on her belly, she followed Joey out to the car.

Walking in the doors of the large building, Joey took a look at his surroundings, not much different than he had expected. He waked up to the front desk, and the secretary looked up and smiled at him.
"Hi, i'm Joyce, your Joey Fatone right?"
"Yes I am, I called about a patient"
"Amanda, yes, i've already told her that she might be having a visitor."
"Alright, well where is she?"
"Oh Sam will take you. Sam!" She called out and a man not much older looking that Joey was walked out from behind a corner.
"Yes Joy?"
"Will you take Mr. Fatone to see Amanda please?"
"Sure thing"
Sam smiled at Joey and led him through a few hall and doorways before finally stopping in front of a room with the word 'TV room' written across the door.
"She'll be right in there, i'll be around, so feel free to just call me if you need anything.",BR> "Alright, thanks"
Joey entered and saw about 15 people all scattered around the room, some watching TV, some playing cards, chess, his eyes roamed around until they finally landed on one girl, sitting all alone, staring up towards the ceiling. He immediately recognized who she was, and so he walked over to her. Half way there, Amanda looked down to see who was approaching her, when she saw who it was, she smiled.
"Hey Joey, and to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"The health, and safety of Justin and Brittni."
She rolled her eyes.
"Those two? Oh, yesterdays news."
"To you maybe, but Justin has tried committing suicide, and Brittni is not too far behind him. Your the one to blame, none of this would ever have happed if you hadn't have come into their lives. You have no idea how much pain and suffering that we all have been through these past three months. Please, I need you to tell me, were you having an affair with Justin, or did you do all that, just so that they would break up?"
"Like i'm going to tell you! What happened between Justin and I is none of your business."
"Amanda please, if you love him as much as you do, you would want him to be happy right?"
"Yes."
"Ok, then the only way we will be happy is if he's with Brittni, you have to understand that. I need to know what really happened between you two in order to try and get things straightened out."
"Ok, ok. I give up." she said laughing and waving her hands in the air. "Nothing was going on between us." she sighed. "I just wanted there to be. See, I was so jealous of always hearing about Justin Timberlake and Brittni Taylor ,and how happy they were together, and how everything was so perfect. I wanted to have that lifestyle, I wanted the perfect life, the perfect job, the perfect boyfriend,  and I wanted that with Justin. With Brittni around, I knew that I couldn't have him, so I thought of a way to get them to break up.  I thought that if I could get them to break up, then he would see how he didn't need her, and that who he had been waiting for all his life, would be me. Well I didn't get that."
"Oh my God! Amanda, I can't thank you enough! You've totally just made my life brighter, thank you!"
"No prob. sugar, hope to see you again soon."
"Bye."
Joey clicked 'stop' on the tape recorder in his pocket, and walked out of the Center with a smile on his face. All he had to do was hope Brittni would listen to it, and believe it.
