Chapter 5 “Oh, my gosh! JC, what did you do to my hair?!” JC looked up at the sound of his angry voice. JC’s hand grabbed a handful of Kristin’s spirals. “Ugh! I look awful.” “What are you talking about? You look beautiful.” JC paused realizing what he’d just said. “Well, as beautiful as YOU could look.” JC’s eyes glared into Kristin’s very different laughing eyes. “JC, how could you do this to me?! I have that promotion tonight, damn it! I look fat, what is wrong with you?!” “Kristin, you shouldn’t be worried about what people at work think of your body. I mean, you aren’t working at Blossom’s because of your body.” A smile spread over Kristin’s face. “Oh wait, I was wrong. You are working at Blossom’s because of your body.” JC’s eyes flared. As JC looked at his own faced angered and made a mental note. I have to remember to look mad more often. I look hot. “Who told you that is where I work?!” “Remember honey, I am you. Libby asked ME why I don’t want YOU to know I work. It’s very useful to be in your body. I find out lots of interesting stuff.” “We have got to get you out of my body. God help me if I don’t get out of yours.” “Having trouble controlling your sexual urges?” “Don’t you wish. Come here, I’m going to fix MY hair.” Kristin’s body backed away from JC’s outstretched hand. “What would people think if they walked in on JC doing Kristin’s hair. JC would look like a fruit. We wouldn’t want that know would we?” “Do you think I care if people think you’re gay? I need this promotion and I’m not going to get it with my hair looking like that. Now get over here.” Kristin ran over to JC and tried to tackle her own body and found it quit easy using JC’s strength. “Get off me,” JC yelled. He grew angry quickly, frustrated by his lack of strength. JC stopped struggling for a moment and a small smile crossed over Kristin’s face. “You know what this looks like don’t you.” Kristin looked down into her own face and realized the compromising position they were in. “Oh my God!” JC and Kristin heard a familiar voice yell. The two of them looked toward the entrance only to find Libby and Joey standing in the doorway watching them, in complete shock. Libby never said another word, too angry to say anything. She quickly turned and ran to her room. Kristin climbed off of JC and began to go after her. She felt Joey take a hold of JC’s arm. “Dude! What’s going on?” “I’ll have to tell you later. I need to go talk to Libby.” With that, Kristin took off after Libby. Joey looked at JC and smiled nervously. “Did you do something with your hair?” JC rolled Kristin’s eyes. ************************************************************************ Kristin found Libby crying, her face buried deep in her pillow, trying to hide her embarrassed face from the world. Kristin walked slowly into Libby’s room and quietly sat down next to her crying friend. Libby looked up into JC’s face. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be down stairs groping my best friend?” “Lib…” “I thought you two hated each other. Kristin even told me I should make a move on you. What a back-stabbing little…” “What are you talking about? I never told you to…” Kristin remembered that she wasn’t herself. She was JC. She was in JC’s body. And JC told her best friend to make a move her. She was going to kill him. “Er…I mean, when did she tell you that?” “Earlier this morning. We were talking about my…” Kristin knew exactly what Libby was about to tell her. Libby was going to confess her feelings for JC. What was she supposed to tell her? “Nevermind,” Libby said suddenly. “You don’t want to hear this.” “Libby, look, you walked in at the wrong time.” “You can say that again.” “No, listen.” Kristin found herself placing JC’s hand on Libby’s cheek. “Nothing was going on between Kristin and I. You were right. Kristin and I can’t stand each other.” “Then why were you on top of her?” Libby asked brushing JC’s hand away from her cheek. “Libby, I…” Before Kristin could finish her plea, Kristin found Libby’s lips were on top of JC’s, massaging them slowly. Kristin felt a small tingle from JC’s body, but her own mind stopped them. Kristin slowly pulled away putting a little bit of distance between them. “Libby, we need to talk.” A small laugh escaped Libby’s lips. “I knew I shouldn’t have done that. I’ve never known Kristin to give me bad advice before. Something’s different about her lately. I can’t place my finger on it.” “Libby, I know that you have feelings for me but…” “But you don’t share them. You don’t need to explain.” “I just need to figure some things out.” “It’s okay, you like Kristin. She obviously likes you too.” “How could you say something like that?!” Kristin paused. “I mean, you know we can’t stand each other. I don’t think that Kristin gave you bad advice. It wasn’t really. I just don’t think I’m right for you. But like I said, give me time to think things over.” Libby looked at Kristin, tears forming in her eyes again. “Could you just leave now?” Kristin lowered JC’s eyes as Libby lay back down on her bed. She stood up and walked back down stairs to the living room. There she found Joey and JC talking on the couch. “Joey, I need to talk to Kristin.” “But we’re talking, Jace.” “Now, Joey!” “Fine! Don’t get your boxers in a twist.” Joey left the room, and walked upstairs to make sure his sister was okay. Kristin looked at JC. “You wear briefs not boxers.” “Hey!” “How dare you tell my friend that she should tell you…err…me her feelings toward you…me…us. God this is so confusing.” “Okay, okay, don’t get your thong in a twist.” “I don’t wear a thong.” “You do now.” JC raised Kristin’s eyebrows jump up and down. “JC, that’s not…” “I know I know. The reason I told Libby to tell YOU how she feels about me was just a little think I like to call payback. That’s for not telling me where you work. And now I get to go to work as you and do God knows what to get a promotion.” “You wanna know why I didn’t tell you where I work? Because I knew you’d make some conclusion about my job, about what I do that’s completely false. I’m a waitress…” “Yeah I know. All the girls there are. I know what guys do to the women that work there.” “And why do you know what the guys do?” “Well, I…uh…I…” “You’ve gone in there haven’t you?! Oh my God, and you were giving me grief about working there. JC, it may not be the most respectable job, but it’s good pay, and I looked everywhere for a job. I’m just working there until I graduate college, then I’m going to be a teacher.” “That’s a great role model. ‘Guess what Mommy’,” JC said imitating a little girl, “My teacher was an ex waitress at Blossom’s.’ That’ll impress the parents at Parent/Teacher night.” “Shut up, JC! I don’t know why I’ve told you any of this. I should have known that you wouldn’t understand. You’re just a spoiled rich boy that gets everything you want with one phone call from Daddy. I don’t have that luxury, JC. I can’t call in sick just because I’ve switched bodies with another person.” “I have my problems at work too you know.” “Sure, you do. Do you have men stuffing dollar bills down your pants?” “Well not exactly, but…” “JC, there is nothing worse than that. Let’s just get that clear. There is nothing in this world that is more degrading then being treated like a piece of meat.” “If you hate this job so much why do you want a promotion so bad?” “Because, Noisy! If I get this promotion, I won’t be a waitress anymore. I’ll be a…” “Dancer? That’s an improvement.” “Why do you care so much about what I do with my life?” “Because I think you have potential to be something great. Not just a waitress.” Kristin lowered JC’s eyes. “I had no idea that’s how you felt, JC.” “Yeah well, there’s more to me than meets the eye.” Kristin shifted nervously. “Shouldn’t we hug or something.” A smile crossed over Kristin’s face. “Why? You want to feel our hot bodies pressed against each other.” “God you’re such a jerk!” “Don’t you have a test you have to get out of?” “Damn it!” Kristin had been so caught up in her argument with JC that she’d totally forgotten about her class. She looked over JC once more. “Fix my hair.” “Nope!” JC crossed Kristin’s arm. “Ugh!” ************************************************************************ Dear Mrs. Siverly, As you said in class at the beginning of the semester, there comes a time in every woman’s life that she needs to have a day off. I know this is the worst possible day because there is a test, but I really need today off. I can’t share my reasons with you, but I promise I will make up the test, if you let me that is. Sincerely, your student, Kristin Don, 12:00 p.m. class Kristin pressed the send button and got up from her computer just as JC was walking into her room, running his fingers though Kristin’s recently straightened hair. “I have to admit, your hair is softer when it’s straight. I still like it curly better.” Kristin looked herself over and began to feel a little bit of a tingle throughout JC’s body. She then felt what that tingle was doing to JC’s manhood and quickly turned away, feeling disgusted that she was a part of this. “Too bad. It’s my hair and you’re going to straighten it for as long as you’re in my body, got it.” “You know, you got the better end of this deal, Kristin. You get to be in my body. You don’t have to do anything to make me look beautiful, because I’m that way naturally.” “Don’t make me puke.” “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.” “Enough of this. God you bug me. What did I ever do to be cursed with this? I thought this kind of thing only happened to people in movies and stories and stuff. I didn’t think it happened to people in real life.” “Maybe that’s where they got the idea.” Before Kristin could answer, she heard a voice come from the computer. “You’ve got mail.” “Great!” Kristin said running to the computer. She clicked on her mail and waited for it to pop up. JC walked over to the computer his body was sitting at, pulling down the short skirt that Kristin had picked for him to wear to the interview. “Could this skirt be any shorter? Why didn’t you ever wear short skirts like this around me? Instead you make me wear it, when I can’t fully enjoy it.” “Oh believe me, you’re body is enjoying it,” she muttered under her breath. “What’d you say?” “Remind me never to wear anything like that in front of you.” JC made a face at Kristin that she didn’t see. She was busy reading the letter from her teacher. “Dang it!” she said suddenly. “What?” “‘Dear Kristin, Yes I did say that you could have one day off in the semester, however, I’m not sure that today was the best day to choose. I will excuse you from the test today, however, you must make it up next class period, or you will get a 0. I hope everything is all right. See you in class. Mrs. Siverly.’” “I thought that’s what you wanted.” “Don’t you get it, JC, if we don’t trade back you’re going to have to take the test for me.” Kristin looked at herself, almost able to see JC inside her own eyes. “God I’m going to fail.” “Hey! That’s not fair. You don’t know that. Maybe I’ve taken this class. What is it?” “Highly unlikely. It’s women’s studies.” “Oh. Yeah you’re going to fail.” “See, told you, I guess you’re just going to have to study none stop between now and Wednesday. A day and a half isn’t enough time to cram for a whole semester of material. We’ll just do the best we can.” “What about your job promotion tonight?” “Shit! I forgot about that. Damn it! Fine, I know what we’ll do. Tonight after work, we’ll…” “What about work tonight?” “You don’t have to go to work tomorrow night. You’ll have plenty of time to…” “No, no, no. Not work at Blossom’s. My job. The job you have to go to tomorrow.” “JC can’t we call in sick again? Come on this is really important.” “Kristin, I can’t take another day off of work. I have responsibilities at my dad’s company. Responsibilities that are yours until we switch back. I have agreed to go to your job to get groped by men I don’t know. I will study the best I can for your test on Wednesday. Please do this for me. Is it to much to ask?” Kristin lowered her eyes. “You’re right, JC. You’ve made all the sacrifices. I’m sorry.” JC and Kristin looked deep into each other’s eyes for the first time. The moment of intimacy scared them both. JC smiled nervously. “Come on, let’s go get you that promotion.” |
