Chapter 7
JC straightened his tie around his neck, knowing Kristin couldn’t do it herself.  Kristin slapped JC’s hand away from her. She turned looking at JC’s reflection in the mirror.  She finished tightening JC’s navy blue tie that matched perfectly with his blue plaid button shirt and slacks and jacket that complemented the suit very well.  I have to admit.  He’s got nice taste in clothes.

Kristin turned to JC, letting out a small sigh.  Of course I don’t have to tell him that.  “How do you look?”

JC smiled looking over himself.  “I look great as usual.”

“You know, JC, I don’t think your apartment is big enough for your fat head, and ego combined.”

“Actually I think it’s your fat head and my ego that won’t fit.”

“You know, I don’t have to go to work for you.  I can just call in sick again and let you get the heat for it.  After all, you did get me fired.”

“You’re right, you don’t have to go to work.  Then again, I don’t have to study for your test and I can just guess on the whole thing.  Or better yet I cannot go at all and you’ll get a fat F on the test.  How’s that sound to you?”

Kristin glared at JC.  “You suck.”

“Kristin when are you going to get over yourself and work with me on this?  Whether you like it or not, you’re stuck with me until we figure this thing out.”

“I’ll get over myself when you do the same.  I have to go or you’ll be late.”

“Finally you’re being considerate of me.”

“Don’t get used to it.”  Kristin grabbed JC’s jacket and put it on.  She grabbed the keys to JC’s convertible and headed toward the door.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“I’m taking MY car to work.”

“Excuse me, whose car are you taking?”

“I’m taking JC Chasez red Viper to work.  Me, mine.  Got to go.”  JC couldn’t stop her as she walked out the front door of his apartment.

“Bitch.”

Kristin parked in front of JC’s father’s building.  She stepped out of the car, staring in awe at the hugs building in front of her.  “God, I’m in way over my head here.”  With a breath of confidence, Kristin walked into the building.  The hall was empty except for the receptionist at the front desk.

Kristin walked to the front desk as JC instructed her to do first thing.  “Good morning, Mr. Chasez.  How are you this morning?” The woman well into her 40s asked cheerfully.

“I’m a little confused to be honest with you, Connie.”

“Confused Sir?  What about?”

“Where is everyone?  Like all the other employees.”

“Sir, don’t you remember?  You and your father are the only ones that come in this early.  The rest of the employees don’t get here until 9:00.  Are you feeling all right today, Sir?  I heard you called in sick yesterday.  You haven’t called in sick since…”  Connie stopped to ponder when she remembered the last time JC had been sick, but couldn’t recall, “Have you ever been sick since I’ve been here?”

Kristin smiled nervously.  “Do I have any messages this morning?”

“Oh yes.  You have lots of messages.  12 I think.”

“Oh, the usual?” Kristin guessed.

Connie looked at Kristin as if she was crazy and Kristin suddenly realized she’d made a mistake.  “No, this is about 4 days worth of messages.  You picked a horrible day to miss.”  Kristin slowly walked down the hall where JC had directed her to go but Connie’s voice interrupted him.  “Sir, Mr. Chasez asked me to tell you he wants to see you when you got in this morning.”

Mr. Chasez? Kristin thought confused.  It suddenly clicked.  JC’s father wanted to see JC.  Kristin shook her fear from her mind, “Thanks Connie.”

Kristin rushed to JC’s office hoping she wouldn’t run into JC’s father before she made it there.
Running to JC’s desk she tried to find the phone but found JC’s desk was covered in papers, files, and other office items.  “Geez JC don’t you know how to clean your desk,” Kristin said aloud.

The phone rang from somewhere on the desk, scaring Kristin half to death.  She found the phone buried under a pile of papers.  “Hello?”  Kristin cursed herself silently knowing that wasn’t the way to answer a business phone.

“Oh you are here,” a deep voice said on the other line.  “Didn’t Connie tell you to come here immediately when you got here?”

“Yes,….um….she did, I just….had to come to my office first,” Kristin said nervously.  She wasn’t sure she could convince JC’s father that she was in fact JC.

“Ahh, you missed your office eh son?  Well as soon as you’ve fixed things up down there, come to my office, we’ve got some things to discuss.”

Some things to discuss.  The words rang in Kristin’s ears over and over again.  She shook the thought from her head clearing her throat.  “I’ll be there in a few.”

Kristin hung up the phone and picked it up again beginning to dial JC’s pager number, he told her to call if his job got too hard to handle.  Just before dialing the last number Kristin hung up the phone.  “No!” she said quietly but firmly to herself.  “I’m going to make it through this day without his help.  I don’t need him.”

Kristin stood up and made her way out of JC’s office and toward his father’s office.  She slowly opened the door poking JC’s head in first.  “Come in, Son, come in.”

“You wanted to see me?”

“Yes, I did Son.  Have a seat.”

Kristin did as she was told, waiting nervously what JC’s dad had to say.  “Son, why are you so tense are you still sick.”

“No, I’m just a little tired.”

“I was really worried about you, Son.  You’ve never called in sick before.  Is everything all right?  Is anything wrong?  You know you can tell me anything.”

“It was nothing I couldn’t handle.  I took care of it.”

“Good, I’m glad everything is going well.  But now that you’re back, you’ve got a lot of work to do.  I need your signature on a lot of things.  Look over the paper work and get it back to me ASAP.”

“That has to be done today?” Kristin confirmed hoping she’d heard wrong.

“Yes, JC As you sure you’re okay?  You don’t seem like yourself today.”

“I’m fine Dad.  I’ll have those papers to you as soon as I can.”

“That’s my boy, glad to have you back.”  As Kristin rose to her feet, beginning her track to the door, she was stopped my Mr. Chasez voice.  “Don’t forget dinner with the family tonight.”

“Right, I’ll be there.”

Kristin walked back to JC’s office and fell down in his comfortable chair.  “I’m going to die before this day is over.  God JC how do you do it?”

************************************************************************

Kristin stepped out of JC’s office recalling she’d seen a water fountain down the hall from his office.  Kristin scanned the area as she made her way to the water fountain.  She noticed several of the women employees watching every move she made.  Kristin avoided JC’s eyes from the women, their stares making her uncomfortable.

At the fountain a young woman possibly a few years older than JC standing in front of it, her black skirt hitched up, the top button of her white blouse unbuttoned.  “Morning, Boss.”

“Morning,” Kristin muttered.  The woman moved out of Kristin’s way, stepping behind her.  As Kristin bent down to take a drink, she felt a hand on JC’s butt, the hand gently squeezing.

Kristin straightened JC’s body turning sharply to face the woman.  “Wow, have you been working out?”

“I don’t think that’s any of your business!”  Kristin said firmly.

“Aren’t we feisty this morning?” the woman moved closer to Kristin, pressing her body against JC’s firm body.  “I like my men feisty.”

Kristin pushed the woman away from her.  “Excuse me, I have to go…do something.”

Kristin rushed back to JC’s office but didn’t move quiet fast enough.  “Morning, Sir,” the woman’s voice was dripping with flirt.

“Morning,” Kristin said looking back and forth between the woman and the door of JC’s office.

“How are things with you this morning?”  The woman’s gaze lowered from JC’s eyes to his pants.  “Looking up I hope.”

“Excuse me, I have to go.”  Kristin brushed past the woman and walked quickly to JC’s office.
She shut the door and locked it behind her. She ran to JC’s clutter filled desk and grabbed the phone.  Her fingers flew as she dialed JC’s pager number.  “JC get you ass down here now!”

************************************************************************

“Mr. Chasez, there’s a woman here to see you.  She says she knows you.”

“Send her up!” Kristin said a little over excited.

A few minutes later, Kristin watched her body walk through the doors of JC’s office closing the door behind her.  “Kristin what on Earth is so important?  I thought you wanted me to study all day. And what the hell happened to my desk?!”

“What’s up with the sexual harassment, JC?”

“What are you talking about?”

“With the butt grabbing and the touching, and the sexual comments?”

“Oh yeah, that.”  JC lowered Kristin’s head ashamed.

“Oh yeah, that,” Kristin mocked.  “What happened to all that respecting yourself.  How is this respecting yourself?  At least what I was doing was part of making a living.  You don’t get paid for getting your ass grabbed!”

“Kristin please lower your voice>”

“JC why do you let them do that to you?  They have no respect for you.  You’re the VP for Christ’s sake.  Act like it.”

“Kristin, you don’t know my dad.  He’d think of me as less of a man if I complained about being sexually harassed.”

“Would you consider yourself less of a man?”

“Well, kinda.”

“Then that’s what makes you less of a man.  JC, you may tolerate this behavior, but I don’t.  If you won’t say something, I will.”

“Kristin, no!  You can’t tell him.”

“JC, I don’t enjoy having your ass grabbed when I’m in your body.  Is that too much to understand?”

“Kristin I know it’s degrading…”

“Then why do you tolerate it?”

JC lowered Kristin’s eyes.  He looked back up at her, “I’ll do something about it, I promise.”

“Well, you’ll have your chance tonight.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You have a dinner with your parents tonight.”

“What?!  That’s tonight?  You can’t go to that alone.  Fooling my dad is one thing, which I’m sure you didn’t do very well.  He probably thinks I’m off my rocker.  But fooling both my parents, that’ll be nearly impossible.”

“Then what are you going to do?  I’m obviously stuck in your body.  Unless you figure out how we can switch back before tonight, it looks like I’m stuck with your parents alone.”

“No you’re not.  I’m going with you.”

“JC, you have to study for my test.”

“Kristin if I study that crap any more my head is going to explode.”

“I swear, JC, if you fail my test…”

“I’m not going to fail your stupid test.  I have to go to dinner with you.  That’s all there is to it.”

“Fine.  But you’re going to help me with all this paper work.  I can’t do it all by myself.  How could you possibly think that I could take care of all of that,” Kristin pointed to JC’s desk, “by myself.”

“I didn’t think you could do it alone, however, I thought it would be fun to let you see just how much I do around you.”

“Ugh!” Kristin his her own shoulder angrily.  “You’re such a jerk.”

JC laughed.  “Let’s get started.”
