Warning about MEDCEU!!

I have just discovered that Medceu has been double and even triple charging RN's for CEU's.  Not only that, but they are advertising that they are accredited in states where they are NOT accredited.

And it's not just myself, but dozens of us that I am aware of, and I think that is just the tip of the iceberg. I've seen reference to this on 3 Nursing forums Delphi Travelnurse and Therapist forum, Cybernurse.com and Allnurses.com . Medceu seems to have their hands in our bank accounts and on our credit cards.

In October I was charged for a membership even though I had rejoined and paid in September. This unauthorized withdrawl was done on my checkcard. I have not yet called the Bank to rectify the problem and get my money back, but I will after the holidays. I thought it was an isolated incident and tried to contact the company, but no answers to my emails. I did however keep getting emails about new courses.

I used Medceu for 2 years with no problems. Their courses were easy to use and cheap. As a travel nurse I have relied on them quite heavily for CEU's for licenses in my states. How cheap are they when they are double charging? And how easy when we have to rush to make up CEU's that will not be accepted by our BON's.

I discovered more about the workings of Medceu when I was researching CEU's for my licensing page. I found that Alabama and Kentucky have stopped accepting CEU's from Medceu even thought the Medceu website says they are accredited in these states.  I hear that California might follow suit. I have emailed ACNN regarding this matter, but have yet to receive and answer. I'll post it when I do.

I'm not the only one!

Susan Sattler RN took over 100 hours of CEU's with Medceu before she found out that her hours might not be accepted by the Ohio BON or the ACCN. She has gone to a lot of time and trouble researching Medceu and calling various BON's and the ACNN to find out more.
Please take a look at Sue's site about Medceu . She explains everything she's been doing to try to track them down, and who to complain to.

Message from Delphi forum regarding California BON

I phoned the california BON myself. DO NOT USE MEDCEU!!! the provider number expired on march 31, 2001. california is not accepting them, and no one else probably is either. The gentleman that I spoke with said they are sitll posting on the website with an active provider # and that is incorrect, he stated (as we all know) that the company is not being co-operative.
I am in the position where I renewed my license using medceu's for my ceu's in california, I asked about this and he said that if we truly did not know about this problem and that licenses have already be renewed then they will accept it for now.

Spread the word that the company no longer has a valid provider #. The gentleman at the CA BON recommended using www.nurseweek.com for online ceu's, haven't checked it out yet so I don't know what it is like but he said it is a very good site

And another nurse, Sue Sattler, Calls the CA BON

I just got off the phone with California BON. He said they suspended the license June 2001 because MedCEU would not return calls and because of the credit card issue. It had nothing to do with course content. He also said they have contacted advertisers to drop MedCEU with no luck. They have not heard back from Florida Attorney General. I told him there was an address for MedCEU to mail checks. He said he would check into that. He also said most states will accept the hours since it is no fault of ours.

Please Call the BON directly to make sure they will accept the CEU's you took with Medceu. Do NOT assume that they will be accepted because of anything that is written on this site. If I can tell you anything it would be to Call the BON yourself.
