Bio
Sharon L. Fahey Topeka, Kansas
DeRail's father worked for the AT&SF in Topeka. Their home was always a "Stopping Grounds" for Hobos who came to or thru She was named DERAIL by the "King-To-Be" of Hobos, Frog, in late 1995 after meeting him in Baldwin City. An actual train derailment (some say she 'caused') occurred in Baldwin City, Kansas, at another Hobo Gathering in 1997. The derailment was just a baptism or confirmation and some said "If DERAIL hadn't been riding, it wouldn't have been derailed."

Queen of the Road
Singing for food or clothes, where we're goin' nobody knows. No home, no jewels, no pet, and I've ruined my last skil-let! Ah but, two hours of tellin' a tale buys some day-old bread, a mug of ale. I'm a bard of means, by no means -- Queen of the road.
No oxcart, or horse for me; I'm walkin' to Mississippi. Old worn out skirt and shoes, Sure got those fashion blues. Wear an old bra that I have found, green, but not too big around. I'm a bard of means, by no means -- Queen of the road.
I know every lawmen in every land, all of the hobos and all of their clans, and every haystack in every town, and every barn that ain't locked when no one's around.
I sing....

I will miss seeing that beautiful face and hearing that soft, kind voice when the hoboes meet in Britt this year. I will miss getting those emails from her and those wonderful pictures of little Taylor, as she grows. I thank God that I can look forward to the day that we will meet again - in the sweet - by and by, where we will be together forever, with our Father who is in Heaven. LOVE, Debi Debi Batchelder aka - Lady Nightingale (Abbot, ME ) January 10, 2004 Derail was a friend to many but to me she was a soul sister. I will miss her laughter, smiles and most of all her love. She rides the westbound to a better place. Lea Burke (Annandale, MN ) January 5, 2004 ladyfree25@aol.com May God rest your Soul, Derail....Milwaukee Mike Milwaukee Mike (Elmhurst, IL ) January 5, 2004 We knew and loved Sharon. When Ron and I got engaged she was so happy. She helped me plan my wedding and even let me try on her wedding dress. We did, however, use her kneeling pillows in our wedding. She definitely was a wonderful unique individual with so much spirit. It was an honor for our pathways to have crossed many years ago (1966). By the way, she would be pleased that Ron and I just celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary the day she caught the "westbound". Our thoughts and prayers are with you, her family. Ron & Jan Ash (Topeka, KS ) January 4, 2004 Fran The Hobo Minstrel (Plymouh, NH ) January 4, 2004 Sharon-Derail will be missed by the Hobo Community and Hobo Foundation. She was a wonderful friend to me and I will miss her dearly. Linda Linda Hughes (Britt, IA ) January 3, 2004 Sharon was a beacon of light in a foggy world of people she came to know thru her father's work. Now, her God will tend to all her needs.
Love,
