PHYSICS IS PHUN!!
And boy, did we learn a lot of it today. Mack, Steph (who was in the background diligently working on research, hopefully listening), and I got to get a free mechanical physics tutor session from Russell. [guess what guys? he used to work for the government, i know all those TI types were really gov. agents. j/k!] We tried to find radius for a wheel that would give us the best speed and power that we needed. Did we find it? no, but do not despair, we are still working on it. Cool jetsies got to work on the arm prototype, Cherise, Betsy, and others played with power tools while we slaved over math problems (sniff). our last equation was, m(v-intitial v) = Force x Time. yayfun! Russell wrote all this on the board, I copied, and Mack took pics. oh yes, and if anyone was wondering 1 newton = 1 kg x m/s2. And our wheel gets a curved acceleration, and you know that equation for torque that i gave out? Sorry! I missed a crucial detail its Torque = Force x distance x sin of the angle. (we just put it at 90 degrees, in our experiments so it was 1. We have yet to make our arm, hope we finish sometime soon. I would like to make a special applause to Stephanie Haynes, who has been coming faithfully to all the JETS meetings and today, took over an hour to do some exquisite research. We all give Steph some extra special golf claps!! (Steph gets a negative cookie) yay! Oh yes, and cilla was sick today *sniff* so we did not see her, but she is much better and will be up and running tomorrow. So hurray for our tech officer too! (i'm also feeling much better, i got more that five hours of sleep last night! yay!)
