The retirement of "The Great One" '99 is 99's Last Season. For some time Wayne Gretzky has been refusing to say if 1999 would be his last year to play in the National Hockey League, (NHL). Rumors had been floating around that the last game of the '99 season on Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Penguins might be the last year Wayne Gretzky would ever play. Unfortunately, that game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon would in fact be the last game Wayne Gretzky would ever play in the NHL. Wayne Gretzky officially announced his retirement from professional hockey on Saturday, April 17, 1999 the day before the Pittsburgh game in New York. '99 would retire the game of hockey very happily with 1,487 games played, 20 NHL seasons and impressive 62 NHL records. Do you like honda preludes?
