| From Chinese to Hispanic, Japanese to American we are all the same with exception for minor physical attributes and our different cultures. In that same sense we all the same in that weare all have the capability to learn. However, we all do not learn in the same way. Some learn through words, some learn through sign language, and others learn through reading brail. There are several different ways that individuals can learn, for most of us we use of combination of learning techniques. Most of us have a dominant and weaker ways of learning. | There are eight different ways of learning. The way an individual learns can be based on anything from a rainy day to the hour at which they are learning to the atmosphere they are learning in. One of the eight to learn is to be a linguistic learner. Linguistic learners learn best by saying, hearing and seeing. Linguistic learners like to read, write and tell stories. Linguistic learners are good at memorizing names, places, dates and trivia. Common traits from a linguistic learners the love for talking, writing, and reading. Linguistic leaners are good at expressing themselves by written and verbal word. They enjoy public speaking and like to play on words and do word games. Logical/ Mathematical (L/M) learners learn best by categorizing and working with abstract patterns and realationships. L/M learners like to do expereiments, figure things out, work with numbers, ask questions and explore patterns relationships. L/M learners have an excellent sense of mathematical reasoning, logic and problem solving. L/M learners tend to be quick at finding and understanding patterns, excel in the memorization of formulas and strategies, fast thinkers when it comes to solving a variety of problems and are able to follow complex lines of reasoning and the thought process. Visual/Spatial (V/S) learners learn best by visualizing, dreaming, using the mind's eyes and working with colors and or pictures. V/S learners find liking in drawing, buidling, designing, and creating things. V/S thinkers are known to daydream, watch movies and play with machines. Common behavior from a V/S/ learner is frquent doodling dyring classes or meetings. Visuals and manipulativies are aids in learning form V/S learners. V/S learners have a good sense of direction and find it easy to create mental images. Musical/ Rhythmic (M/R) learn best with rhythm, melody and music. M/R's are very involved musically. M/R's speicalize in picking up sounds, beats melodies and have an ear for pitch change. Behavioral characteristics are humming quietly to themselves while working, walking or talking, and can remember songs and rythms easily. Bodily/ Kinesthetic learners learn best by moving, touching and interacting with space. B/K's process knowledge though bodily sensations. B/K's enjoy moving around, touching, talking and using body language. B/K's are good with physical activities (sports, acting, dacnce) and crafts. The behavioral qualities of B/K's are to have a hard time sitting still, using body gestures and physical gesuters to express themselves. B/K's tend to be excellent athletes because of their wonderful physical coordination. Interpersonal learners learn best by sharing, comparing, relating and cooperating. Interpersonal learners like to have lots of friends, talk to people, be leaders and are very organized. Interpersonal thinkers tend to be caring. Interpersonal learners behavioral aspects are urges to talk everything through, excel in listening and communication, sensitive to moods and feeling of others. Interpersonal's are good team players. Intrapersonal learners learn by working alone on individual projects and self paced instructions. Intrapersonal learners like to work alone and pursure their own interests. Intrapersonal learners are very tuned in with themselves. An intrapersonal is "fly by the seat of the pants" type person. They are very quiet and aware. Constantly asking questions, intrapersonals are very exprssive with their feelings. Naturalist learners learn best by identifying and categorizing. They like to collect recognize, sort and organize. Identifications and classification are key in a naturalist's life. Naturalist's are very observant with characteristics and patterns and are good at making connections between the two. |

| My Experience with the Eight Styles of Learning | ||||||||||||||||
| I have found that my dominant learning style is intrapersonal. My expectations were that I was dominant amongst the bodily/ kinesthetic and the interpersonal learning styles. My weakness is with the spatial learning style. I learn well when I work on my own. My future and dreams are what I am constantly working to achieve and as an intrapersonal learner. I am motivated by these things. I am very self-reflective and at times a little to critical of myself. I am an individualist. My learning capabilities are somewhat hinderd by musical or rhythmic and auditory learning syles. Although I enjoy working in groups and find it productive it may not be the best way for me to learn. In doing this I have found that I am and individualistic, leader who is active in sports. I show others this through my involvement with sports, clubs and in the classroom. |
