| Ecstasy was first found by a chemist that worked at Dow pharmeceuticals, , Alex Shlulgin in 1912. MDMA was originally used a dietary suppressant by Merck, a German pharmaceutical company. Merck patented MDMA in 1914. Merck used this from 1956 to 1977. At the time little research had been done (and was being done on the prescribed drugs of this era) about the affects that MDMA had/has on your brain and your body.
