Celebrations!
Birthdays
We will celebrate your child's birthday in class. You are welcome to send in cupcakes, cookies or individually wrapped ice cream treats for this special occasion. We have 18 children in our class. We have this treat after playtime. Your child's birthday will also be his/her special helper day. It will be marked on the monthly poetry calendar.

Birthday Invitations
According to our school handbook birthday invitations are not to be passed out at school.
Halloween Party
We will celebrate Halloween on  October 31st. The children will not be dressing up. I'll be asking parents to help plan and supervise the party.
Christmas Party
I'll also be asking for help in planning and supervising this party as well. Instead of the children exchanging presents I'll be collecting money. Then I'll buy the same presents for all the children. This has seemed to work real well the last several  years.
Valentine's Day Party
I keep this party very low key. The children exchange cards and I supply a simple snack and that's it. I keep this party simple because about this time we'll also be celebrating the 100th day of school and be getting ready for our February vacation.
100th Day of School
On this fun day we spend the whole day doing activities related to the number 100. Your child will have a homework assignment to complete for this day too.
Easter
We don't have a party for Easter but we do make Easter Baskets. I'll be asking for donations of candy to put in the baskets.
End Of The Year Picnic

During the last week of school we'll have a picnic. I'll be asking parents to plan the food and activities for this afternoon of fun. All parents are invited to join us for lunch.
