Zirl A. (Bubba) Hopkins III, began playing the fiddle at the age of 6. Inspired by his grandparents, Moss and Donna Thompson, and taught by Dave and Monty Gaylord in the style of Ace Sewell, Bubba is a two-time Oklahoma Junior State Champion and has placed in contests throughout Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Idaho. At the age of 14, he lives by his late grandfather's motto:

"Just one more tune!"

Out of love for a traditional art, many musicians have inspired and encouraged Bubba in his musical journey. His goals are to encourage other children:

To get involved in music. To love and respect those who share their talents. To share their experience with future generations.

For more information, contact Bubba's mom at hopkins@sstelco.com.

Dedicated to "Pop"

the best backup guitar player a fiddler could have!

Please Help Me Find Pop's Guitar

On the evening of Friday, December 28, 2001, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. while Bub was at his grandmother's, thieves in a dark car backed into the Hopkins' driveway in Spavinaw, kicked in the backdoor, and stole a Gibson guitar left to him by his grandfather (Moss Thompson) as well as four other guitars and his Mom's HP scanner and jewelry. If you have information about the guitar pictured above, please call:
