Happy Holidays
from Kevin, Laura, Will and Ellen
We have had an amazing year, but through it all we have held our family and friends close in our hearts. Absence does make the heart grow fonder, and we truly appreciate all the wonderful people who are part of our lives. We wish you a very peaceful and happy holiday season.
As you know, shortly after arriving in Belgium we created a website to act as a scrapbook and to share our adventures with family and friends. But not everything makes the webpage. So, our holiday letter is made up of the photos that didn't make it to the website. Each of us chose a favorite photo.
This is one of Kevin's favorite photos and moments. The Alps were just as we imagined. And now we'll get to experience them in the winter! Can you say SKIING?!

(Photo taken by Will in Kandersteg, Switzerland, July 2003.)
This is one of Laura's favorite moments in Europe. St. Mark's Plaza in Venice, at least 100 degrees on a hot August day, and Laura ends up with a pigeon on her head. This is what visiting Venice is all about!
Of course, living in Europe is an education in the variety of toilets that can be invented. Our favorite is the Legoland version! (This was at the Legoland that is one hour from Munich. I think we'll be getting a season pass!)
One of the best things about the whole expat experience is that siblings depend on each other and become better friends. We have really enjoyed this aspect of living in Europe. On the right, Will gives Ellen a break from walking in Gent last summer.
Sometimes the sunrise in Belgium is magnificent. So, we chose this photo to represent the sun rising on our next adventure. In late December we will move to Munich. We already have our first visitor booked and we look forward to seeing as much of Germany and the rest of Europe as humanly possible in the next 6 months. Gives a whole new meaning to the greeting:
Happy New Year!

Thank you for staying in touch.
