Chapter 1 - Excalibur
Hello. Welcome to Chapter One of "A History of Magic”. We will discuss all of the magic done in the magical prime, the medieval age.
Excalibur is a magical sword. Today, it is still protected by the lady of the lake. But at one time. It was taken by a jealous king. He then had a son, with a Muggle. The son was called Arthur. Arthur was a great wizard. Though he never had a wand, his advisor was the greatest of the land. Merlin (who was such a great wizard that wizarding awards are now named after him today. For instance Order of Merlin 2nd Class, 3rd Class, etc.).
Though, exactly after Arthur was born, his father went into battle, in a great war. Although Arthur's father was king, he did die in that battle. And soon the other kingdom would run into Arthur's newly crowned realm. Merlin took Arthur to a safer place. But the entire kingdom and Arthur’s mother were killed.
But during the war, Arthur’s father fought with Excalibur. With his own greed, he planted Excalibur into a great rock. And put a curse on it. For that no one but his own blood, could lift Excalibur from the rock. Thus Arthur was the only living blood of the great king. He was the only one who could lift it. Not even Merlin himself could remove it from the stone. This type of magical bond between a parent has also happened before - Harry Potter shared a magical bond with his mother.
Chapter 2 - Hexlare
Welcome to Chapter two. In this chapter we will talk about The Wild West, and how it affected magic. However, there is one wizard that is not truly known to history. It is Hexlare (X-lar). Without Hexlare, there would be no West.
Muggles knew Hexlare for his speed. But most Muggles called him Thunder Road. His wand was implanted into his Six-Shooter. A six-shooter is a type of weapon Muggles use even today to kill each other. It has a cartridge near the front, which holds metal cylinders called bullets. These bullets would fly out of the end of the gun at a stunning speed, and usually injure dramatically whatever it hits.
Hexlare was one of the fastest humans to receive his gun out of his holder and shoot. But he was also known for how he tricked Muggles everyday. He played a game in Pubs called Poker. Poker is a complicated card game. Hexlare would use magic to change what his cards were printed and make very much Muggle money.
After many years of Hexlare's domination over the west, The Ministry of Magic was created to put an end of people like Hexlare. The Ministry of magic also received many Dementors to run a prison. Hexlare then received the Dementor's Kiss, which is a unique perspective of the Dementors. The Dementor's Kiss is where a Dementors take off their hoods, and then sucks the soul out of the victim through the mouth. Then, the soul is lost forever, and the body remains without a soul, unable to understand anything. It is a punishment worse then death.
Chapter 3 - The 1900s
The 1900's were not a very magical time. But for Muggles, it was a time of prosper. This time was full of Dark Magic. Voldemort was in complete control from 1960 to 1979. He was the reason why many still fear him today. Many call him "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" or "You-Know-Who". He had many frightening spells; he mastered all the Unforgivable Curses, and many others.
Voldemort was a very evil wizard. He created the "Dark Mark". It showed a skull with a snake tongue. It was every wizards fear to see the Dark Mark over their home. For they knew it meant death was upon them.
Many of Voldemort's followers were believed to have been under the Unforgivable Curse, the Imperius Curse. This curse allows total control of the victim. If you wanted the victim to commit suicide, he would do it. Total control.
Another curse Voldemort used was the Cruciatus Curse. This curse begins from the inside. You start to fill a tingle of pain. It spreads and spreads until your entire body becomes rigid with undescribeable pain. All subjects that can speak yell constantly. This goes on until the victim dies.
The worse Unforgivable Curse was Voldemort's favorite. Avada Kedavra. It is instant death. Not a soul has lived from it's torment. If there were a survivor we would know more about it. Though there is only one. Harry Potter. But Harry Potter was a baby at the time. He has no idea of what had happened. There is a scar on Harry Potter's forehead. And whenever something evil is near him, his scar burns. Not much is known about this curse. But all of them are illegal. And the Avada Kedavra is what killed Voldemort. But he is barely alive. Perhaps one day he will die. But for now he is but a shadow.
Chapter 4 - Magical Creatures
How magic bagan is a mystry, probably one that will never be solved. But, like all things, there are differences. And there are creatures that only Wizards know about. Unicorns, dragons, centaurs, and pheonixes are only four magical creatures that Muggles even know about. Hippogiff's are a fair examples of creatures muggles could never dream of.
Unicorns are very unique creatures. If a muggle touches a unicorn, it will die. If you cut off a unicorns horn it shall die, but it can be used as a wand. A unicorn horn wand spells can be preformed by thought alone. but at one time, there was a unicorn that would live forever. It still is alive today, though know one knows of it's whereabouts, it is still appreciated. This unicorn is called Pegasus. Pegasus is a mixture of a flying horse and a unicorn. It's flying abilitie is legendary.
Centaurs are half human and half horse. Though not much is known about them, they are very agile creatures. They gaze at the stars and are fixed on that they can tell all. They can predict that even one star can predict a muggles death. Even Muggles beleive the future lies in the stars. Every day they read Horoscopes to see what can happen to them. But they judge the stars by the date of birth.
Pheonixes are fire-birds. They arrange of different colors and sizes. The largest pheonix recorded was larger than Hogwarts. And the smallest the size of a knut. Pheonix tears can cure anything. It is the most precious medicine known.
