Summary Blacksburg (AP) - Corneilus Taplin making his first career start and went wild on the Wisconsin secondary as the Hokies rolled to 56-28 victory. Taplin completed 18 of 23 passes for 305 yards and 6 TD's. For his efforts Taplin was named Big East Player of the Week. Reggie Esbjorn led the receiving team with 7 catches for 107 yards and 2 scores. Bruce Foley also went over 100 yards while Cade Meeks caught 2 TD's. Freshman HB Germane Knight ran for 113 yards on 21 carries while Darrell Wolverton scored twice on the ground. The defense was led by Anthony Grossman with 7 tackles. The win was the Hokies 14th straight dating back to last season and 30th straight regular season victory. |

Summary Blacksburg (AP) - Last week it was the air attack this week it was the ground game as the Hokies destroyed Stanford 62-7. Germane Knight was named Big East Player of the Week after rushing for 182 yards and 2 TD's during the 1st half. Backup HB Darrell Wolverton played the 2nd half and rushed for 136 yards and 3 scores. Corneilus Taplin passed for 194 yards and 2 scores in only two quarters of play. Taplin hit Cade Meeks on a 65 yard TD pass and Reggie Esbjorn on a 5 yard score. Shyrone Thomas led the defense in tackles with 6 while Junior Zala and Shyrone Thomas contributed 2 sacks each. The Hokie defense held Stanford to just 150 yards on offense. |
