WESTONBIRT ASSOCIATION

Reunions

Reunions have been organised by various year-groups, some at the school, and some elsewhere.

Reunions at the school can occur on the annual Reunion Day in the autumn.     Members on the mailing list are informed of this event.     To get a year-group to attend requires encouragement from someone.     By contacting the section representative(s), it should be possible to add a slip to the summer mailing, usually sent out in early July.     (For advance encouragement, the previous mailing is usually in January.)

Lunch is available (at a cost) on Reunion Day at the school; it is usually possible to include Old Girls that are not members of the Association (but they are charged extra).

Groups may wish to meet at the school at another time of year.     This is often possible, but contact should be made with the school, to enquire about arrangements (there is a form on the school website, or one could telephone or write).    Past reunions of this sort have sometimes included families, and once a creche was organised through the school.

Examples of successful reunions away from the school:

  1. In a pub - very free and relaxed.

  2. A weekend at someone's house.     Dormitory-style sleeping arrangements may bring back old memories!

  3. Lunch at a restaurant or someone's home.

Groups that have not kept in touch with each other and / or the Association may require a period before the reunion to make contact.     Friends Reunited may help.    A group organiser may also find it helpful to let those in contact know who is "lost", requesting information that might help track them down (colleges and professional bodies might pass on letters; telephone directories may be useful if location (and, in some cases, husband's initials) are known.)
