The Ears carry 10 points of the allotted 84 points for General Type*. When the competition is stiff, 10 points can "make" or "break" a judge's opinion.
EARS--The ears should fall straight down, framing the sides of the head. An appropriate crown is the cause of this effect. The ears should lie against the face in a flat manner. When you look at a Holland from the front, the ears and crown should appear to be like curtains framing a window. Ears should be leathery in their thickness and be completely covered with fur. They should not be too long, no more than one inch hanging below the lower jaw line.
Thickness of ear is a texture and can be measured as indicated in the photo. Ever felt of a good leather belt? That's what you should try to achieve in "thickness of ear".
The ear should be wide and well rounded at the tip.
The ears should be placed just behind the eye and fall no more than 1 inch below the lower jaw.
