Veggie Pattie (Mush) Mix |
This recipe is versatile and easy to make. A rough guide follows but feel free to use your own touches and ideas. The following recipe lasts me about a month.
I freeze individual portion sizes in snack ziploc bags and then place the snack bags in a large freezer bag. I feed approximately 3-4 ounces of the mix daily. (One ounce is about the size of an ice cube)
Ingredients
-1/2 of whole raw beef/calf heart chopped (or whole pieces like chicken backs or necks chopped up)
-1-2 bunches fresh/or 1 frozen bag of dark green leafy vegs (collard greens, turnip greens, etc. Not spinach, as spinach interferes with other mineral absorption in dogs)
-1-2 bunches of bok choy chinese cabbage
-3 to 4 whole eggs with shells
-1 pound of carrots
-1-2 cloves garlic
-1 kohlrabi or zuccinni
-1 to 2 apples, without seeds
-1 whole orange
-1 bunch of fresh parsley
- 1-2 table spoons of olive oil
-I also add any left over vegs in the fridge, cooked green beans, cabbage pieces, celery, etc) |
Preparation |
-Run all whole vegs through a juicer, save juice for later
-Place raw organ meat/meat pieces in food processor and chop
-Add to this mixture the veggie pulp from the juicer bin
-Add other ingredients and mix thoroughly adding juice as necessary to blend
-Mix will appear like mush, this is good
-Now feed or freeze in portion sizes - That's it! |

Satin Balls |
Satin balls are used to help put weight on dogs. Especially those who have been neglected. This is a large recipe and may be cut in half for smaller dogs.
10 lbs hamburger meat 1 large box of Total cereal (or comparable brand) 1 large box of Oatmeal 1 jar of Wheat Germ 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil 1 1/4 cups of unsulfured molasses 10 raw eggs 10 envelopes of unflavored Knox gelatin Pinch of salt
Mix all ingredients together, much like you would for a meatloaf. Divide into 10 quart-size freezer bags and freeze. Thaw and feed as needed.
SUGGESTION: Roll out into meatballs before freezing to make portioning and feeding easier.
