    Kelly,
I forgot to say that in the smaller markets, there generally are only one or two CD's who handle most of the bigger work. National and regional commercials, the films that come through town, any LA production that might be shooting in that area--that kind of stuff. The agencies are going to know who those CD's are but many agencies in the smaller areas are far too busy to spend a lot of one on one time. Many of these CD's, in Seattle anyway, oftentimes hold workshops of their own just like the ones do in LA, but they are more extensive. Like one whole day or even a full weekend. Not a bad source to look into. I have found the workshops from the CD's in Seattle to be extremely informative, well planned and thought out and full of a lot of good information. Two of them from Seattle use video extensively with the kids AJ's age and go through all the various steps that are used, even in LA. They cover such things such as monologues, slates, energy to the camera, marking the 'stage', the differences of commercials and feature films, and all that important stuff to know. The video is great because it helps the kids see themselves on film (er, uh...video) and they help the kids correct their mistakes. The ones in Seattle are more prone to casting the kids they know and ones that have taken their workshops and they even keep the videos on file for further reference.

I know you still have lots of stuff to do ahead of you and many miles yet to go. But the journey is fun and I have no doubt you and AJ will enjoy it! It also allows the two of you a lot of one on one time that you might not otherwise have gotten--and that can never be a bad thing!
