terrific! plus a personal *ouch* Monday, 06-Jul-98 18:12:08
I cannot think of anything that people like to see more than Casting Notices on boards. Thanks so much for posting. The personal *ouch* is simply just my disappointment that I cannot even submit because of the lack of union waiver. Man ... I love "The Seagul." About 8 months ago I spent about 6 weeks working on the notorious last scene at my acting studio. Guys and Gals ... all I can say is that if you're non-union, submit, submit, submit. It would be an amazing experience to work your assets of on this particular play, since it's a wildly difficult piece and tremendously rewarding especially if you manage to come through even on a small part of it (If you think you completely nailed Chekhov, guys, it's a true "what's wrong with this picture" type of deal. I remember Uta Hagen saying that she did not think that she "got" the "Cherry Orchard" until her very last performance. And for those of you who don't know, Uta played Nina in "The Seagull" in performances that are very much remembered by the acting community to this day). Additionally, board readers, if you are going to get yourself a copy to read, beware of the translation. There are at least eight of them out there, and all I can say is that there are some who just seem to me very much "not to get it" and to come off clunkier than a three wheeled car in the English translation. Regardless, thanks for your post, and best of luck with both the casting and, of course, the production itself. sterling Wolfesden Sterling Wolfe - Supportive Moderator |
