TRUE LIES: Goofs


Continuity: Harry's dinner jacket momentarily disappears when he sets the radio explosives at the embassy.

* Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt player performs Harry flipping up from sliding on his back through the snow.

* Factual errors: Since Harry fired a gun directly in front of Gib's face, Gib should have received powder burns and possible sight and hearing damage.

* Errors in geography: Harry begins the Georgetown chase scene on 30th Street in Washington, moments later is in a park at 14th Street several miles away, and ends up in a high-rise Marriott Hotel that couldn't exist in Washington, which has a city-wide height restriction of 15 stories.

* Factual errors: Aziz shoots hundreds of bullets from a 30-round AK-47 magazine clip.

* Continuity: Aziz rides into the kitchen and a waiter drops a full tray onto the floor. When Harry rides in, the floor is clean and there is suddenly a red carpet in the kitchen.

* Revealing mistakes: Stunt player on horse jumping through the fountain.

* Continuity: Harry's coat is dry after riding through a fountain.

* Continuity: Tire tracks visible on the carpet in the hotel before Aziz rides through.

* Revealing mistakes: The urinal flexes when the bad guy's head is thrust into it.

* Continuity: Bullets in the bathroom were fired at an angle, but the holes were straight.

* Continuity: Aziz's position after he kicks open the toilet doors.

* Crew or equipment visible: Tape holding explosives for bullet holes in the toilet doors.

* Crew or equipment visible: Reflected in the toilet paper dispenser in the booth where the old man is sitting.

* Revealing mistakes: Wrinkle in the drop screen that is supposed to be the city when Harry is talking to his horse on the roof of the hotel.

* Continuity: Juno's face is cut before Helen slaps her.

* Continuity: The cut on Juno's face switches sides during the fight in the limousine.

* Factual errors: Harry grabs and fires a gun that is missing its receiver and is thus not able to be fired.

* Continuity: Obviously two different twin bridges in the Florida Keys.

* Factual errors: The holes in the bread vans are smaller than the 25mm rounds fired by the Harriers.

* Factual errors: The sound and wind from the nuclear explosion arrive too soon.

* Factual errors: A person shot at close range by the 25mm depleted uranium rounds fired by the miniguns on the Harrier would be turned into very bloody pile of pulp.

* Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The Harrier's left tail wing cracks when backed into the building. This doesn't necessarily mean it's fake; it could be an AV-8B Harrier II, which has composite wings.

* Factual errors: Dana hangs near the air intake of an operating jet engine but is not affected by it at all.

* Factual errors: Moving the control stick of a Harrier jet will cause it to move sharply to the right as well as roll right.

* Factual errors: The propulsion system of a sidewinder missile does not activate until the missile is clear of the aircraft. Thus, when Harry fires the missile, Aziz's weight should have pulled it down off course.

* Factual errors: Bullets fired from an AK-47 would not shatter the canopy on a Harrier jet. This was known by the filmmakers, but the shattered canopy was included to avoid having to worry about reflections on the canopy glass.

* Continuity: Disappearing bullet holes in the Harrier jet.

* Incorrectly regarded as goofs: It is frequently claimed that there was no time for Dana to be kidnapped in Washington and flown to Florida, but this claim ignores the fact that Helen revealed on the plane that she and Harry had a daughter. This gave Juno an opportunity to arrange her kidnapping.

* Factual errors: Since he stayed in the car when Harry went into the bathroom, Aziz would have no way of knowing where Harry was in the mall.

* Continuity: When Harry is returning the Corvette to the lot, the car to the right side disappears halfway through the skid.
