Browning style, dropping barrel design, Striker-fired.
Construction:    Polymer and alloy frame. Slide and barrel are carbon steel with a harsh weather finish. Polymer frame reinforced with rails composed of steel inserts. Any outlying metal surfaces have a hard wear and corrosion-resistant Tenifer surface.
Grips: Black polymer wraparound with
curved backstrap.
Orgonomic design, adjustable for three different hand sizes.
Sights: Front post with rear notch. Abbreviated ramped rear sight, adjustable for windage(lateral) only, Standard 3-dot. Three extra front sight blades for height adjustment.
Safeties: Internal striker safety, to prevent ignition if dropped, and trigger safety (decocking safety) to prevent firing unless finger is fully on the trigger. Also has hammer drop to safely lower striker on a chambered live round. Three independent, automatic safeties: the trigger safety, the decock safety and the internal striker safety. The internal striker lock is disengaged only when the trigger is fully cycled.

Well it is still uncertain whether the new gun--Walther P99--will become the official new gun of 007. The P99 was not introduced by Q, however Bond does say that Q has mentioned the handgun to him before. 007 picks up the gun halfway through the movie, while arming himself for the final assault on the Carver stealth ship.
I guess we will just have to wait another two years until we find out if Bond indeed did make the change, giving up his now obsolete 30 year old PPK for an updated model.
