The World Tour

Updated Dec. 4th

Before Butterfly came out, the World Tour was originally planned for this fall. However, everything has been pushed back and so far, a Japanese Tour and an Australian tour has be officially announced. We also know a little about a U.S. tour.

RUMORS: Allure will be the supporting act for (at least) the Australian leg of Mariah's World Tour. Mariah is hoping that Trey Lorenz (guy from "I'll Be There") will also come along with her.

Japanese Tour

Here are the dates for the shows:
Date City State Venue

01/11/98 Tokyo JPN Tokyo Dome
01/14/98 Tokyo JPN Tokyo Dome
01/17/98 Tokyo JPN Tokyo Dome
01/20/98 Tokyo JPN Tokyo Dome

According to Sony, "tickets went on sale October 4th, and all 4 Tokyo Dome shows sold out in 1 hour!" The tickets cost 10000 yen (US$116) for an 'S' seat and 8000 yen (US$90) for an 'A' seat.

One More Asian Date?

Mariah has reportedly promised to a Taiwan music magazine that she will do a concert in Taiwan. The date, according to a Vision Mailing List member, is January 24.

The Australian Tour

Date City Venue

1/31/98 Brisbane ??
2/3/98 Sydney Sydney Entertainment Center
2/6/98 Sydney Sydney Entertainment Center
2/10/98 Perth Burswood Dome
2/16/98 Melbourn Melbourne Park

Tickets go on sale on the 4th of December for the Sydney and Perth shows and the 5th for the Melbourne show. From what I've heard, ticket prices range from about $80 (US$50) to $250 (US$170)! The $250 tickets are on sale now.

A Brisbane concert was recently added. Tickets go on sale December 15th.

Mariah had originally promised to be performing in Australia in January (See Australian Interview).

There's also a rumor that there will be a concert Auckland, New Zealand Jan. 30 next year before she goes to Australia. But that that a Brisbane concert on Jan. 31 is planned. That seems unlikely.

U.S. Tour

We know only one thing about the U.S. tour: Mariah might perform in Florida. An article in the September 20th issue of The Orlando Sentinel about an Orlando-based company called Florida Entech and its work on security for the Hope Diamond included this passage:
In addition to the Hope Diamond mechanism, Florida Entech's other projects include a three-eyed Elvis monster at Disney World's Tomorrowland, the clock tower at Orlando's FAO Schwarz toy store, various projects at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park and part of the stage for singer Mariah Carey's upcoming tour.
