Calendar

The year consists of 365 days (the idea of a Leap Year has not yet been developed). The year consists of twelve months of thirty days each, with five special feast days.

The months, in order are:

Gareth, Garia, Garel, Dalvi, Freder, Murna, Sasquist, Jaffer, Namera, Lika, Davon, Chastar

Summer runs from Dalvi to Murna, Autumn from Sasquist to Namera, Winter from Lika to Chastar, and Spring from Gareth to Garel.

The feast days are:

New Year: held before Dalvi
Old Year: held after Garel
These two days, which are together form the Feast of the Change. No man may be executed on these days, all men must fast, and no work may be done.
Summers Day: held at the end of Murna. The Feast of Selmia occurs on this day each year.
The Coming of Frost: held between Namera and Lika. This is a day of solemn ceremony to pray for protection in the winter months.
The Feast of Battle: held between Chastar and Gareth. The day when the army parades, and enlistments begin and expire. This day traditionally marked the beginning of the Marauder raiding season, but that no longer occurs.

Each week has five days. Feast days are not counted as part of a week, and so the same date falls on the same day each year. The five days are:

Nialday, Chiniaday, Jarvakday, Hastikday, Bervikday

Bervikday is the day of rest (for freemen at least). All other days are workdays. Back to Helgraad.
