LIVE APPEARANCE: Kerri will be at the San Fernando Valley's Square Sherman Oaks Mall on Wednesday, October 23rd at 3:00PM PST to sign autographs in Macy's for a special benefit.
Monday, October 21
MAGAZINE: The new Olympian magazine arrived in the mail today, and it has the Mag7 on the cover.
Thursday, October 17
MAGAZINE: Here is the cover of the October issue of International Gymnast magazine. (It is unavailable at this time.)
Tuesday, October 15
TV: Kerri will be on American Journal on October 16. She will explin why she didn't join the Hancock tour.
MAGIC: The Radio City Magic date was cancelled due to low ticket sales. The best explanation for this is poor advertising. From what I've heard, only one ad for the tour appeared in a New York paper, and it was one-eighth of a page in size.
Sunday, October 13
TV: Kerri will be on America's Funniest Home videos sometime soon. The show was taped already, but I don't have a specific air-date yet.
SITE: Updates are happening at a slower pace than I'd like, but keep an eye on my links page and the other pages that have been neglected.
IRC: The IRC chat was a success! It will be a weekly meeting for Kerri fans. I'll have more information on this shortly.
TV: ESPN will air a John Hancock date on October 14. No information is available on which one it will be.
TV: Time ran out for Shannon and John on Regis and Kathy Lee, so they taped a segment for a future show.
Thursday, October 10
TV: Kerri was on Maureen O'Boyle... Do I need to make another transcript now? Someone generously typed a transcript for Kerri's appearance on Leno in August, so I will get that up soon.
TV: Only Shannon Miller and John Rothlesberger will be on Regis and Kathy Lee this Friday.
ONLINE: Make sure to keep your eye on www.strug.com -- It was updated today with news of Kerri's official fan club. More information will be available the week of October 21st, and I'll keep you updated.
Tuesday, October 8
TV: I've received conflicting reports about Kerri's appearance on Maureen O'Boyle. Apparently, Some TV guides say Kerri will be on, and others say something else. If I get concrete information, I'll get it online ASAP.
TV: (Unconfirmed) Dominique Dawes will be on Rolonda on Wednesday.
TV: (Unconfirmed) The Mag7 (I'm not certain Kerri will be there) will be on Regis and Kathy Lee this Friday.
ONLINE: Kerri now has an active presence on America On-Line. She had her first chat session last week. She has her own "online area," too. Now is a good time to use those dozens of AOL free trial disks. I'm glad I saved them!
Monday, October 7
TV: The infamous Conan O'Brian episode which made fun of Bela and Kerri reruns tonight. I've never stated my opinion on the show in the past, so here it is: Conan's style is an off-beat sort of humor. It's non-traditional, and it fit perfectly with the show. I've been a fan for years. I was ready when it first aired, but I can say I didn't like the "kiss" at the end of the staring contest.
NEWS: Kevin Strug (Kerri's brother) and Karen Pendlebury created a new Kerri site. It's been around for a few weeks and still isn't completed yet, but it's a page to keep an eye on. The biography is the best I've seen. To see this page, point your browsers toward www.strug.com.
IRC: I decided to put together an IRC chat with fellow Kerri site creator, Shaun Reichter. It's this Friday, October 11th at 7:30PM CST. It will last approximately 1.5 hours, so stop by anytime to meet some other Kerri fans. Come to #kerri on irc.eskimo.com. I hope you can make it.
TV: I've been informed that Kerri will be on The Maureen O'Boyle show this Thursday. Check local listings for the channel and time.
TV: It's confirmed. ESPN will air a John Hancock date tonight at 8PM CST.
TOYS: No, Kerri doesn't have her own toy yet, but Starting Line-Up has created a new line of sports figurines called "Timeless Legends." The series features famous Olympic athletes, and two gymnasts (Olga and Nadia) are in the 1996 set.
Saturday, October 5
SITE: I'm sorry the updates have slowed to a weekly occurance. College has kept me busy, and I will try to get updates posted as soon as I can. I am also a little behind in e-mail, so if you asked me a question or sent me comments, I will get back to you.
MAGIC: The latest information on the tour is up. The link is on the main page.
MAGAZINE: Kerri is on the cover of the October issue of International Gymnast.
CAPADES: Kerri makes her Ice Capades debut this weekend in Orange County and will continue at selected shows in 10 cities, including L.A. and Las Vegas, during the show's nine-month tour.
QUOTE: When questioned about her voice, here's Kerri's reply:
"I've had a lot of criticism about my voice," she said, "but I'm a gymnast, not a singer. I'm small. I'm not going to have a big deep voice. This is part of the package.
"Nobody was thinking about my voice when I did the vault. Sure, I could improve in some areas, and I want to work on it, but at the same time, that's what makes me me."
NEWS: Kerri made an appearance at the September 30th Eagles-Cowboys Monday Night Football game. She attended the game with her brother and agent (Leigh Steinberg, also Troy Aikmen's agent), and she participated in the opening coin toss ceremonies. Kerri was well received by the crowd.
TV: (Unconfirmed) ESPN will broadcast a John Hancock tour stop on Monday, October 7th at 8PM CST. It was taped Sept. 21 in Orlando, Florida.
SITE: I celebrated my 19th birthday on October 3rd. (If anyone wants to know.)
