Animated Conversation: Disney Animation

"It's always a challenge bringing a great story classic to the screen. Giving visual form to characters and places that have only existed in the imagination, but it's a kind of challenge we enjoy."

      ~Walt Disney

Welcome to the Disney section of Animated Conversation - the web page for animation buffs everywhere. I have broken Disney animation into the categories linked below. All titles included in these categories have been listed in chronological order.

Feature films are movie-length and released in theatres.

Package films were produced during war time when economic shortages made full-length animation impossible. Package films are several shorts linked to make a movie-length show.

Featurettes were begun in 1949 when the studio almost recovered enough from the war to resume making features. These films consist of linking two "longish" shorts.

Movietoons are full-length features of sub-grade animation that Disney wishes to differentiate from its actual features. I believe that the straight-to-video releases have taken the place of movietoons, and it is likely that no more will be produced.
