Juliet Mills Chat
Welcome to #NBC-Live!
Tonight we are talking to of the stars of the hot new daytime drama Emmy and Golden Globe winner plays the part of Tabitha Lenox, the evil next door neighbor of the Bennetts who brings a supernatural element to Harmony. Juliet is fondly remembered as Nanny on the series, Nanny and the Professor.
Welcome Juliet!
Juliet: Hi everybody, thanks for joining us tonight!
Chatter453: Is it fun playing Tabitha and getting to be kooky and evil?
Juliet: Yes! It's GREAT fun! I'm having a ball!
Englishman: I saw once that your first role was in a movie when you were 11 weeks old. Can you tell us how you got into acting and what drives you to continue?
Juliet: Englishman: Well, I got into acting at 11 weeks old, because my father, John Mills who was a very revered actor, and was in a film, "In Which We Serve" written and directed by Noel Coward, who was his friend, and my Godfather. They needed a baby, and I happened to be hanging around the set with my mother. <laughs> It's always been a part of my life, my family environment, and I love acting in all mediums. I enjoy theater, films, and television. This is the first that I have ever done, and it is a very new experience and I am enjoying it very much.
Passionsfan: How is working on soaps different from primetime and film?
Juliet: There is less time, and more work! Doing one show a day, that is unthinkable in film. You would do more than 5 or 6 pages a day. We do 50 pages a day! It's very hard work, and there is a lot of learning involved, but I'm getting better at it :-) .
Booklover: I read your book "Mind, Body, Soul and Balance" and loved it. Do you plan on writing another book soon?
Juliet: I haven't got the time right now, but maybe I will write a book, perhaps some spirtitual tip that I've learned in my life. And I think would improve the quality of one's life.
Onemore: How would you describe Tabitha?
Juliet: Wow, words fail me <laughs> She is pretty bad, just a bad girl. Who knows what's in store for her. I reckon at some point there will be some come-uptance. She is a wonderful character. And mercifully all her evil schemes are not successful.
PASSIONS: What do you think about Timmy and how do you like working with him?
Juliet: Timmy is great! He's played by Josh Evans, and he> and I have become very good friends off camera. He is a terrific professional, and we have a lot of laughs.
Ibee: How much time did it take to get into makeup to play the fortune teller?
Juliet: Good question! It took two hours to get that makeup on! And an hour to get it off.
Ibee: Do you find it more enjoyable to play a character that is good like Nanny or evil like Tabitha? I used to watch the Nanny and the Professor regularly as a child!
Juliet: Well, they are both fun to play. The fact that they both are sort of magical beings, is really lovely for me. I LOVE all that magical stuff. And Nanny was a great experience for me. I loved doing that show. But she was great! Compared to Tabitha who is wild. I am having a lot of fun with her because she is so rude and awful! And funny. :-)
White_Hazel: Hey who is your favorite person to work with?
Juliet: On the show I would have to say Josh, Timmy because I work with him all the time. My favorite actor I've worked with was Jack Lemmon.
Lime: How did you get the job on Passions?
Juliet: I did an audition for the part with 100 other people and they picked me :-) .
Julietfan: I saw a web site about your show The Magic Spoon, where can I see it at?
Juliet: You can't see it at the moment, we did four pilot shows, and hopefully at some point we will send it to a cable cooking network. It is actually a cooking show. So you won't be able to see it> until we fill it and get commitments for like 26 1/2 hour shows and then you will see it. We have the Magic Spoon website, and also at http://www.NBC.com/passions we will notify you when the show may be aired.
Ibee: What type of evil is Tabitha planning and how are Grace and Faith connected to it?
Juliet: I know very little of other plans ahead of time. But I will tell you she is definately determined to meddle in everyones business, and I promise you she will. <laughs>
Migeth14: Which episode of Passions so far was your favorite?
Juliet: I think probably the one where my little "accomplish" comes to life and I am no longer alone . When Timmy turns into a real person instead of a dog.
Veggieamanda84: So you personally believe in the supernatural?
Juliet: Definately! No question about that !!
White_Hazel: says: How old is Timmy?
Juliet: I think about 100 - 200 something like that. :-) Josh of course is 17 .
Marinegrl: says: Do you have any imput on your character? and Are there any similarities between you and Tabitha?
Juliet: I do have a little bit of input. Simply by the way I present her. And the team that works with me, like the wonderful costume designer, and the makeup and hair people, that kind of input I have. As far as the story line goes thats Mr. James Reilly out there on his own!
Marinegrl: says: I think that it must be fun to be on a soap opera, how many hours do you work a week though, it must be very time consuming.
Juliet: It is fun, and your right it is time consuming. We have been working 14 - 18 hours a day five days a week! And then on the weekends there are all those lines to learn for the next week.
Bbsiter: are you going to be a mean character the entire show or will you soften up?
Juliet: <laughs> I don't really know what they have in store for this character. But I'm sure there will be some lessons learned along the way and she will soften up abit at some point.
Nbcsoapfan: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Juliet: I like to cook, and I love gardening! And for relaxation I like to go to the movies, or the theater.
Quaile: do you have a personal web site? if so can we have the address?
Juliet: You can find out what I'm up to and see my biography at http://www.nbc.com/passions, for now. And don't forget to take Tabithas tour.
Cheese: do you still keep in contact with your former nanny and the professor cast mates?
Juliet: I'm very sad to say the professor passed away shortly after we finished shooting Nanny. The rest of the cast that I have seen is Kim Richards, who played the little girl.
RPCIII: What advice would you give to aspiring young actors that want to go into show business?
Juliet: First of all find a way to act. Whether it is in amateur productions; going to school; or anything to make sure that is what you want to do. It is a really tough business, and you have got to love it very much. And be able to take a lot of rejection at times. Just believe in yourself, and practice your art as much as you can, WHEREVER you can! So that when your opportunity comes, you are ready to take it.
White_Hazel: Do you like your character? What would you change about her if you could?
Juliet: I wouldn't change anything about her right now. I LOVE playing her! And she is just a marvelous character, even though she is a little wicked.
Ibee: We know that Tabitha can read into the future and past with the crystal ball, and that she could make Timmy come to life. What other powers does Tabitha possess?
Juliet: Well, I'm sure she has all sorts of things up her sleeve. Maybe a magic wand. I think these are all tools for her sorcery, she is a sorcerous, She works with the supernatural and occult powers. I don't know for sure what is in store for any of us.
SoS_16: says: How did you perfect your "cackle" I LOVE> IT!
Juliet: I don't know LOL. It just came to me out of blue. I think it is one of the things that got me the role.
Bbsiter: says: how many years have you been acting
Juliet: I supposed I've been acting, 30 - 35 years.
Gouldy: Juliet how long have you been married to Maxwell Caulfield; was he in grease 2?
Juliet: Thats right! He was in Grease 2 and we have been married 19 years this year.
Carla: do you get to talk to travis shuldt? is he as cute in person as he is on tv?
Juliet: Yes! He is very cute, and a very good actor too.
Cheese: how do you like working with such a> young cast?
Juliet: Oh its Great! It's Fun, they are wonderful, enthusiastic, talented people. They are wonderful! Especially my little friend Josh, who is 17.
EZguest5647: i have heard you answer alot of fan mail, is there an address we can write to you at?
Juliet: Yes there is. You can to me Juliet Mills\%CBSTVStudios, 4024 Radford Avenue, Studio City, California 91604 If you are requesting a picture please make sure to include a large, self-addressed stamped envelope.
Simpleone: What's been your favorite part of your career?
Juliet:Now today, I like to be in the moment, so this is my favorite at the moment. I have had so many wonderful opportunities and played many wonderful parts, I can't really choose in my career. So I would have to say it is now.
Millsfan: you come from a very talented family, do you feel that had an influence on your career?
Juliet: Oh Yes!
Juliet: Family influences you more than anything in your life of course. And watching my father work when I was a child had a tremendous influence on me. And at home conversation surrounding the dinner table was very educational for a girl who wanted to become an actress.
Little_b736: hello do you like being on the show
Juliet: Hello! YES! I LOVE being on the show :-) I hope you love watching it.
Chatterbox453: Do you prefer TV or theatre acting and why?
Juliet: I prefer theater to any kind of acting, simply because you have a live audience, and you act for an audience. It is only in the theater that you get that wonderful live response. It is very exciting.
Foxy: Just who is that little boy timmy
Juliet: His name is Josh Evans, and he has done a lot of> work. You might have seen him on Ally McBeal.
RPCIII: what is your favorite type of music?
Juliet: I like music period. I like all music. But I like Chris Isaak. And I like Dan Fogleberg. And lots of others, I can't think of everyone :-) Oh! I have to tell you I like Kula Shakur! The lead singer in that band is my nephew :-) . They have a new album out as well, and are on tour in the US right now.
Trey: Juliet, have you ever watched daytime soaps before? if so, which ones?
Juliet: I watched All My Children for 6 months, because Maxwell Caulfield was on :-), my husband. And now of course he is watching NBC, Passions. He's Hooked!!
Ibee: What is it like working on a new soap?
Juliet: Its very exciting to be at the beginning of something. And this is the beginning of a new show, and we are all starting together. So it is very wonderful to be a part of it.
Beth: If you could be something else, besides an actress, what would you be?
Juliet: I have often thought about that... I think I would want to be something in some area of healing. Not a medical person, but I do reflexology and massage and I get a lot pleasure from making people feel better. So I think it would be something in that field.
Our time has almost come to an end for tonight Juliet, I want to thank you for being with us. Any last comments you would like to share with our audience?
Juliet: It's been really fun communicating with you people out> there in the universe, and I hope we can do it again sometime. Thank you for your support and thank you for watching this show! And I'd also like to tell you about a wonderful website that one of the fans did, and I hope you will go take a look at it when you are done here.
