Ocean Shores

Ocean Shores

I don't know much about this theater, except for the faint outline in the Terraserver picture. I even drove past this place in the spring of 1999 without even knowing it was there.

"Theater was built in 1969 and closed in 1984. Most things are still intact at the theater except the owner dismantled the 100 foot wide wooden screen (with asbestos tile surface) and used the wood to build an addition to the snack bar/projection building which is now his private residence on the top floor. The snack bar/restrooms/boxoffice is still basiclly intact on the bottom floor! All projection equipment is gone and the speaker posts were all hacksawed off flush to the concrete bases.

"Theater is located behind North Beach RV Parts & Service 2268 State Route 109 in Ocean Shores, Wash. The area where the theater is located is known as Hogan's Corner/North Beach. Hale Avenue is across the street from the theater. For many years the theater has been mistakenly been listed in OCEAN CITY when in reality it's in Ocean Shores. The theater has been known by TWO names over the years: NORTH BEACH DRIVE-IN and OCEAN SHORES DRIVE-IN. The man tells me the theater never had a marquee or any kind of sign out by the road. Car capacity was 200 cars and it always had speakers for sound (never had radio sound). Total acreage of the theater property is 14 acres." --Ken Layton.

Men's restroom hasn't been used in years. --Ken Layton

Snack bar/Projection building has been extended by the present property owner by using wood salvaged from the screen tower. The Women's restroom door is open. The Pink door leads into the snack bar. The top floor of the building is now used as a private residence. --Ken Layton
