Did You Know That.....

The RMS Titanic had two sitsters? The Olympic and the Britannic were both smaller in size than their mamoth counterpart.

Moments before Titanic struck the iceberg, she was traveling at 22 knots, the highest speed she ever achieved, with 24 of 29 total boilers lit.

The wreck of Titanic was discovered in 1985 by the Woods Hole exploration after several attempts to locate her.

It is estimated that within the next 20 years, the deteriorating underwater wreck will collapse upon itself.

The talented band aboard Titanic brought music to passangers even during the final moments of the ship's life as they played their finale, "Nearer My God To Thee". No member of the band survived the sinking.

The sixteen lifeboats on Titanic's main deck were designed to carry 1,178 souls, but only 700 occupied them that night.

The first class dining room aboard Titanic was meant to hold 500 diners at one time!

And on the subject of James Cameron's movie....

Titanic was the most expensive movie ever created, carrying a hefty $200,000,000 price tag.

Titanic also holds the award for the largest set in film history. (And if that wasn't bad enough, the day after the movie was completed, it was torn down and used for firewood!)
