Jerry Lewis THEATRE

Jerry Lewis THEATRE

On September 30, 1969, Jerry Lewis formed the, "Jerry Lewis Cinema Corporation" in association with the Network Cinema Corporation. This was done in order to create theaters to be operated by a minimum of two people. They had Italian Cinematografica Projection systems which automated nearly every process for exhibition (the curtain, music, house lights, etc...sounds a bit like "Uncle Eddy"). Another stipulation was that all of the "franchisees" could only show family ("G" rated) films. The first 350-seat theater was built in Old Bridge, New Jersey and by the end of the first quarter in 1973 there were 190 theaters. The chain met unfortunate demise in 1980.
