Gene HackmanThe Replacements : Brooke Langton (The Net) will star as the female lead in The Replacements. She will play Keanu Reeves' love interest. The pic based on the real-life crew of ragtag jocks who served as replacements during the 1987 National Football League players’ strike. Reeves will play the leader of the band of misfits who led the Washington Redskins to an impressive winning streak during that strike-shortened season. Gene Hackman also stars in the film as a pro football coach who assembles a team made up of replacement players when the real guys walk out. The Mummy sequel : Stephen Sommers will write-direct the sequel to The Mummy. The production will start by the next summer with a 2001 release.

Dr. T. and the Women : Liv Tyler and Claire Danes are in negotiations to play women in the life of Richard Gere in Dr. T. and the Women which is a romantic comedy that Robert Altman will direct. Shooting will start in Dallas on November. Dr. T. and the Women is a comedy about a gynecologist undergoing a mid-life crisis who's tested by some unusual events involving the many women in his life.

Bait : Kris Kristofferson and Jamie Foxx will star in Bait which is a drama about unlikely allies searching for stolen money. Kristofferson will play a senior treasury agent who arranges for a prisoner (Foxx) to be paroled and used as bait. Steve Surjik will direct the project that starts shooting in September. Kristofferson finished Detox,' a drama staring Sylvester Stallone, and will star in Wesley Snipes sequel to Blade.

Charlize TheronNavy Diver : Charlize Theron (Mighty Joe Young, The Devil's Advocate) is in talks to play Robert De Niro's world-weary wife in Navy Diver. Cuba Gooding Jr. will take the lead in the film about Carl Brashear, who made U.S. military history when he combated racism to become the Navy's first African American deep-sea diver. The story takes place from 1940-70 and tells Brashear's real-life story. In 1966, he continued to dive after losing a leg during a salvage mission in the Atlantic and became the first black and amputee to earn Navy master diver certification. Pic will focus on Gooding’s relationship with Billy Sunday (De Niro), a senior officer and master diver. Shooting is set to begin next month. George Tillman Jr. (Soul Food) will direct the pic.

Get Carter : Stephen Kay (The Last Time I Committed Suicide) will direct the remake of the classic British gangster thriller Get Carter. Sylvester Stallone will star in the lead of the remake which starred Michael Caine in the 1971. Shooting will begin on October 4. Kay wrote and made his directing debut on Suicide. But his film never received a theatrical release, only did air on Cinemax. Suicide's cast includes Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea), Keanu Reeves, Adrien Brody (The Thin Red Line), Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) and Gretchen Mol (Rounders).

X-Men : According to Cinescape, Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line) is in talks for the role of Cyclops in X-Men. Ray Park, Bruce Davison, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Dougray Scott, Anna Paquin and Halle Berry will star in the film. Director Bryan Singer (Usual Suspects) will helm the project which begins shooting this fall.

Rocky  6Rocky VI : Sylvester Stallone is back as Rocky Balboa. Stallone will write, direct and star in Rocky VI. Rocky VI is in the early stages of development, and no script has been written. MGM vice chairman Chris McGurk unveiled the project Tuesday morning. McGurk said the latest Rocky would be a low-cost movie in the style of the original film Rocky. They expected the new film to be made for somewhere in the $30 million-plus range.

The Contender : Gary Oldman, Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges have signed on to star in The Contender. Los Angeles film critic Rod Lurie will direct the independent film from his own script, which is drama about power struggles and scandal in the White House. Allen will play the vice president of the United States, whose reputation is tarnished when a sexual scandal from her past is unearthed. Oldman will play the speaker of the House, who considers the VP unworthy of the job. Bridges will take on the role of the president, who backs his second-in-command but is conflicted nonetheless.

The Messenger : Joan of Arc : Sony Pictures has released the teaser trailer for Luc Besson's bio-epic of the famous French female knight which Milla Jovovich, John Malkovich (King Charles VII), Faye Dunaway and Dustin Hoffman (Grand Inquisitor) stars in.

Family Man : Nicolas Cage is again in negotiations to star in Family Man, which he was attached when Curtis Hanson was meant to direct but fell out when Hanson dropped out. Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) now committed to direct the film. Cage will star as a workaholic investment banker who forsakes love for his career, and, although he makes a fortune, he is left with a nagging feeling he should have married his college sweetheart and had a family. One day he wakes up one day to find himself living the life he might have had if he had married his college girlfriend.

Dr. T. and the Women : Richard Gere will play a gynecologist in Dr. T. and the Women which is a romantic comedy that Robert Altman will direct. Shooting will start in Dallas on November. He will join the shooting after he finishes the romantic comedy Autumn in New York which stars Winona Ryder in the lead. X-Men : Ray Park (Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace) will star as the evil henchman Toad in X-Men. Director Bryan Singer (Usual Suspects) will helm the project which begins shooting this fall. Also Bruce Davison (Longtime Companion) has also joined the cast as Sen. Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Dougray Scott, Anna Paquin and Halle Berry will star in the film.

Martin Scorsese : Martin Scorsese wed former book editor Helen S. Morris last Thursday in New York City. His publicist announced today which is the fifth marriage for Scorsese; the second for Morris. Details of the ceremony were kept hush. Scorsese's previous wifes was writer Julia Cameron, actress Isabella Rossellini and producer Barbara De Fina.

Brokedown Palace : The official site for the director Jonathan Kaplan's latest film which Claire Danes, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Pullman and Lou Diamond Phillips stars. The drama is about two girls wrongly convicted of drug trafficking in Thailand. They will be defended by Pullman as their attorney.

Brad Pitt Diamonds : Brad Pitt and Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) want to work together on director Ritchie's next film, Diamonds. The cast also includes Lock, Stock co-stars Vinnie Jones and Jason StathamDiamonds  is set against in London's Jewish diamond district. Pitt will star in the film after he and  his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston co-star in Waking Up in Reno.

Minority Report : Steven Spielberg wants his fave star Matt Damon to join the cast of  Minority Report which Tom Cruise will star in the lead. The production begins  in October for release next summer. The film, which is based on a Philip K. Dick short story, is about a cop (Cruise) in a system where killers are arrested for murders they have yet to commit, preventing the crime. The problem, one of the future murderers is his brother (Damon). Damon recently starred for Billy Bob Thornton in All the Pretty Horses, and he's currently starring for director Anthony Minghella in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Esquivel :  Alexander Payne, director of Election is in talks to direct the biopic Esquivel which is about Juan Garcia Esquivel, the ground-breaking Mexican musician whose prolific musical output during the '60s typified the Hi-Fi sound of the day. John Leguizamo will star as Juan Garcia Esquivel and also serve as a producer of the project.

Numbers : John Travolta  committed over the weekend to star in Numbers for director Nora Ephron. Travolta will begin shooting the comedy-drama in mid-October after he finished Battlefield Earth in September. Travolta and Ephron will team again after their first collaboration Michael.

Big Momma's House :  Raja Gosnell, the director of Never Been Kissed may helm Big Momma's House. He  is also in serious talks to direct Fantastic Four, which is based on the Marvel comic book. Martin Lawrence may star in the lead in action-comedy House.

Night Of The Living Dead-30th Anniversary Special Edition : 1968's Classic-horror film's trailer is available. Pic will be released again in October.

Breakfast of Champions : The film is based on the classic Kurt Vonnegut novel. Pic is about the meeting between Dwayne Hoover (Bruce Willis), a Pontiac dealer, and Kilgore Trout (Albert Finney), a science fiction writer. In the film Nick Nolte stars as Harry LeSabre, Hoover's cross-dressing associate, and Barbara Hershey as Celia Hoover. Alan Rudolph was nominated for Golden Berlin Bear in Berlin Intertional Film Festival.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle : Scream writer Kevin Williamson's directing debut is about a student-Leigh Ann who is a very succesfull in all lessons except history which Mrs. Tingle teaches. The only person in Leigh Ann's way is her class rival MaryBeth Carter. One day Leigh Ann has her friend Luke steal the history test, which will boost her grade up. Luke is caught by Mrs. Tingle and Mrs. Tingle reports it to the principal. Luckily, the principal is not there that day so before she can tell him tomorrow, Luke and Leigh Ann knock her out. They take her back to there place and tie her up. After this point school will never be a safe haven again. Thanks to Kyle (Legend15@aol.com). The original title was Killing Mrs. Tingle but it was was changed to Teaching Mrs. Tingle because of the April 1999 shooting incident at Columbine High School incident in Littleton, Colorado.

Mumford : A comedy from Lawrence Kasdan, the director of Body Heat, which is about a psychologist (Loren Dean) who hangs out his shingle in a small town and whose unique style of therapy has a surprising effect on the community, sparking romance in some of the most unlikely places. The film also includes a supporting cast like Martin Short, Alfre Woodard, Ted Danson, Jason Lee and David Paymer.

Bringing Out The DeadOne Night at McCool's : John Goodman (Bringing Out the Dead, The Big Lebowski) has joined the cast of One Night at McCool's which Liv Tyler stars as a woman who wreaks havoc on the lives of different men, including Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas. Harald Zwart will make his directing debut on the film. Shooting is expected to begin in mid-August in Los Angeles. Goodman recently completed the Coen brothers' O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

Shaft : Vanessa L. Williams is in negotiations to star in Shaft. The film is a remake of 1971’s Shaft which Richard Roundtree starred as John Shaft. In the remake, Samuel L. Jackson stars as John Shaft, a private eye and sex machine. John Leguizamo will play as villain Peoples Hernandez in the John Singleton's (Rosewood) directed film.

Charlie's Angels : Music video director McG is in negotiations to direct updated movie version of television series Charlie's Angels which is about three glamorous, gun-toting crime-busters. The pic starring Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz playing two of the women, and the third is expected to be announced shortly. Shooting begins in October, with a summer 2000 release expected.

George Lucas in Love and Almost Romantic : Newcomer filmmaker Joe Nussbaum, has signed a deal to direct Almost Romantic. Nussbaum's gained Hollywood's attention with the short film parody George Lucas in Love, an eight-minute film that mixed like Star Wars and Shakespeare in Love by depicting Lucas as a creatively challenged filmmaker in the 1960s.

Moving Pictures : Demi Moore will next be seen in Passion of Mind and now Moore, who is one the producers of the Austin Powers franchise, has signed a production deal with Miramax Films. Moore's Moving Pictures production banner will have a one-year, first-look deal for both film and television with Miramax, with an option to renew for a second year. Moving Pictures' production credits include G.I. Jane and Now and Then. Moore starred in both of the films.

The Filth and the Fury : Fine Line Features will shoot a new Sex Pistols documentary, The Filth and the Fury. Julien Temple, who first documented the band in 1980's The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, will direct directed the new movie.

The HauntingWeekend Box Office : Jan De Bont's The Haunting became the new No. 1 movie with estimated gross of $33 million. Another debutant, Inspector Gadget opened at No. 2 with about $22 million. American Pie is third with $10.3 million while Eyes Wide Shut is at No. 4 with $9.9 million. Adam Sandler movie, Big Daddy took $6.1 million and came 5th. The Blair Witch Project expanded to 31 theaters from 27 theaters and grossed about $2 million, a per-theater average of an amazing $64,516.

The Lord of The Rings : Variety reports that Sir Ian McKellen, will play the character Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Another British actor Ian Holm is in talks for the role of Bilbo. The first part of the series is named Part One: The Fellowship of the Rings will be directed by Peter Jackson. The production starts in October. The cast includes Elijah Wood and Sean Astin. The film centers on Frodo Baggins (Wood) and his sidekick (Astin) on a quest to save humanity with a magical ring.

David Arquette : David Arquette has agreed to play for an untitled pro wrestling movie for Warner Bros. Arquette will play one of two wrestling fans who are devastated when their favorite matman is humiliated in the process of losing his championship belt. The desperate pair travel to Atlanta to help the wrestler regain the championship. Brian Robbins (Varsity Blues) will direct from a script by Steven Bril. Arquette will play in the movie after he finishes Scream 3.
