The Story
Pocahontas tells the story of the meeting of two totally different cultures. The heroine of the story, Pocahontas, is the daughter of chief Powhattan of an American Indian tribe. She is an energetic, self directed, independent woman. She is also a dreamer who wants to get more out of life that just marrying the most handsome man in the village.

John Smith, the hero of our story, is a handsome, English man who seeks adventure and ultimately a land that he can call paradise. He is on a voyage of discovery, along with a ship load of men who are scared of Indians and will kill them on sight.

The two meet and fall secretly in love.They both realise that their love is doomed from the start as both cultures clash.

John is captured by the Indians and sentenced to death. Before he can be killed, Pocahontas steps in and saves him. Unfortunately John is shot whilst shielding Powhattan. John Smith must return to England to receive the medical help he needs to recover.

Pocahontas is forced to choose between the man she loves and the tribe and her home. She realises that her people need her, and putting all selfish thoughts out of her mind she decides to stay and help her people. The movie ends with Pocahontas waving farewell to John Smith as he sails away to England.
