It all started a couple of weeks ago, I was flicking through the tv channels, when I saw this film 'Pleasantville' was showing, so i began watching and I loved it, me and my brother (This is the boy who watches MTV and nothing else) found it so amazing. Anyway I thought nothing more of it until I had a dream a couple of nights ago. You _being Tobey Maguire) were there..in role ofcourse, anyway we were in that scene where it starts to rain, and i think it was me and you, but i cant be sure...anyway i woke up the next morning feeling very odd. So here I am..I had never even heard of you before the film, and now i am hooked! I cant explain it too well but I think there is something about that film that was meant to touch me..and it has. You are probably thinking 'Oh my God..Obsessed Freak' but i assure you i am not the obsessive type and i have never felt this strange before in my life. I was surprised when my favorite book, Cider House Rules, was made into a movie. I can't believe how beautifully it was translated to film (much thanks to the brilliant John Irving). What impressed me most was Tobey Maguire. It was so bizarre how he was e actly the person I pictured in my head while reading the book. I unabashedly cried through the whole movie (we have few inhibitions here in Berkeley). It was such a beautiful, tender adaptation, I couldn't stop the waterworks. So what, man. Cheaper than t erapy. The first actor Tobey brought to my mind was James Stewart (in his early roles with his breaking voice), and he was around a very long time and won of course every award and became an icon. You know, when I first heard of Tobey, I thought: Hey, that's that dude that is Leo's bud, right? Then, once I saw a preview of a movie he was in, I thought: Gee, he's only getting that job 'cuz of his DiCaprio connection. He really is quite unigue, isn't he..? I was an extra on Great Scott! back in October, 92....wanted to talk with him over the same last name - but figured it was kind of stupid. But Tobey was extremely cool to be around. He's easitly the best smoker I' e ever seen in my life...very cool - never once was out of line or snotty. Unfortunately - those episodes never aired. Great to see him around. Love him - classic in Ice Storm. Was tripping BALLS at Midnite show of Fear and Loathing! Great film - shamanism...audience was all on drugs; reciting lines from book; clapping at the trippy parts. Tobey's part was very funny. Esp. later in the film. When's he going to do a villain? There was a girl on Great Scott who I swear was in Ice Storm. Are they a couple - or friends...or was I just imagining. The time in LA is long gone, now. Again - it's nice to see his face again!
