"Gee, what a funny name you got
there..."
"Well, some people think The Heart of The Tiger is a funny
name; I don't..."
"C'mon, this is Disney Fanart; anything goes... *LOL*"
Well, Meatloaf is something that
seems to be with me throught out the more important parts of my
life. It's funny now that I recall it. I still remember the first
song I heard of his, "I Would Do Anything For Love";
and it still remains one of my personal faves. When I first
listened to him, I was...in awe at how much emotion he placed
into what he sang about. If Muses were men, he'd qaulify for the
part, IMO. When I saw an actual picture of him, I was...well,
shocked, I guess. I kinda expected someone who resembled Ed
Harris or even Bruce Willis. He looked like he was out of place
in our era, like he belonged in a time where he'd wear animal
skins and hitting wolly mammoths with wooden clubs <G>; I
think it was the forehead. ;-D
I think I was more envious of his hair. I mean, growing up on
BX/PX crew cuts it tends to cut down (No pun intended) on your
options; so I wanted to try something new. The problem is that my
work will not allow me to grow waist-leanth hair :-(
Some people wondered why I love that particular song. I cannot say for sure. Just saying "I like it" seems inadaquite, IMO. It's a wonderful song, with powerful lyrics. Some of them sounded of hope and some of dispair. The song never fails to hype me up at work. Dubbed the entired song over and over on a cassette tape and play it all night on my Walkman <G>. And sometimes I manifest it physically, causing some banged knuckles and more then a few bruises. Every drumbeat, "surge" on the guitars just...surges up my spine when I let it, causing me to bang on shelves and tables, and whatever flat object that's around me. Enjoy the everlasting Power of Music <G>. But I loved the end duet with the mysterious "Mrs. Loud" :-) I remembered when I first trying to "Disney-fy" the song, it had only Belle and the Beast in it. But someone had some qualms about Belle singing "Will you hose me down with holy water-if I get too hot-?" *LOL*. Considering what I've done to poor Belle in the past, this might've been considered "mild". But she's a very understand soul, so I was sure she wouldn't minded it too much.
Anywho, I like almost all of his songs, because they always
seem to spark some emotion in me when I listen to them. And a lot
of them are so easy to "convert" in a Disney setting
for me. It's not very hard to picture Beast singing "Not
A Dry Eye In The House" after letting Belle go. (The
lyrics seem to take place in a theater, so I thought of *that*
when I first walked into the Palace Theater ;-) Or seeing Aladdin
singing "I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth)"
to Jasmine. There was even one with Icerus singing "Bat
Out Of Hell" and "Everything Louder Then
Everything Else". Belle singing "Where Angles
Sing". And one particular one with Megara singing, "Good
Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)". Then
there was one of Beast singing "For Crying Our Loud";
one of his best songs, IMO. .
Of coarse, I'd like to see Meatloaf
return to Broadway and star in BatB. Him and Susan Egan returning
for the lead roles...I'll be getting the Orchestra Seats, no
matter the cost ;-) *swoon*
For years, I have this strange fasination with crossing sometime with another. I remembered my teacher saying "Thank God that the Boys from Brazil never found you". Good thing too; public schools have enough insane people walking around as it is. But I was fasinated by things like that. And with the news of genetic and gene manipulation, it only increased my ferver a bit more. Like what would happen if we (Genetically, of coarse) crossed Julie Andrewsand Celine Dion. Or Meatload with Mel Gibson. Philip Quast (The best Javert on stage, IMO) and Frollo. Or Disney's Tarzan with Mel Gibson. Then you wonder about how Mira Furlan would sound if she inheritied some of Minnie Driver's voice. Then we get into the Belle-Anya genetic hybrid. Or that Beast-human hybrid <G>. (Sounds like a tired Jay Leno routine, doesn't it? ;-)
"BeastLoaf" was another personal project that I've *always* wanted to do. And the major infulence in the project was the music video of "I Would Do Anything For Love"; It was modern day Gothic BatB-like story. I even bought the VHS tape with the video in it. I liked the visuals in it, but I hated how they cut out the critical parts of the lyrics out. Still, it was good. I scanned the VHS cover and worked my way from there. Beast was a problem that I got eventually got around; I cut out parts of his body from other parts in certain scenes and pasted them together, so he'd look like he *was* behind the mountain and the castle.
The "Pool Game" was another idea I was interested in
doing. Admitingly, it didn't start out as a "pool table
scene", but more of a battle scene I got from an anime pic.
In retrospect, I'm glad that I chose this one. Dispite what
others have said about what I do; even I tire of doing "war
scenes" with Disney. It started out as a sort-of
"Battlefiend Comadre"; a group of soilders just sitting
back in some foxhole, playing cards or sharing jokes or
something.
This one was based off of a "Project A-Ko"
Soundtrack CD cover I found in Anime Binaries NG. I liked it
because it had a "friendly" mood in it. No fighting, no
war; just a simple game of Billards. The one on the left, in the
Victorian-looking dress seemed perfect for Jane, in my mind. And
for some reason, I love the sash around her waist. (Why in the
hell can't we find such *fine* clothing in mainsteam
fashions?!?!) I thought Belle would look nice in the red dress in
the middle. Simple, elegent, nothing really fancy, I guess. I got
her face from a scanned cover of the short-lived BatB comic
books.
For some of you that do not know: they were printed and produced
by Marvel Comics. It was a *very* brief 13 issues. (I own twelve
of them, plus "doubles ;-) Personally, I think Disney
should've gave the license to Dark Horse comics; they've
*always" made the best out of movie licenses; look at the
sucess they've had with the "Aliens", "The
Terminator" and "Star Wars" comics.
Marvel had a habit of screwing up licenses when they're given to
them. Personally, if you want to kill off a good series, have
Marvel do the job; they're experts in the field, IMO.
Okay, back to reality (Or a distorted version of it...); I wanted
from the start for Sadira to be in this one, for some reason; I
though she'd be perfect in the "pool hustler" outfit.
There are regretibly not many good pics of her on the 'net. And
I've tried looking; believe me, I've tried. There are so
few of them out there.
The background was something that resembled red velvet, IMO; and
something I took from the Disney offical site. They actually have
good stuff in there, at least the parts that are not infested
with that god-awful Flash crap.
Well, I hope you find this explaination satisifying and
interesting as I did.
Until Next Time,
HoTT
