A Special Sneak Peak at The Blair Witch Project DVD

After viewing a special advance copy of The Blair Witch Project on DVD, I have to say, that it was great fun reliving the Blair Witch experience all over again in the comfort of my own home. The transfer is good, and the extra features are a good suplement to such a groundbreaking phenomenon of a film. As you put the disc into your player and the disc is fully loaded, you are taken to an animated menu screen complete with background footage and horrifying screaming in chaos set off in the distance. You can choose to view the entire film, or jump to a scene, or acces the special features menu. From the special features menu, you can view the documentary, "The Curse of the Blair Witch" in it's entirety, or jump to a chapter by choosing from the chapter listing. Also, the special "recently discovered footage" is approximately 5 minutes of Josh, Heather, and Mike sitting in the tent, trying to figure out just what the hell has been going on over the course of the last several nights. This scene is crucial, as you are witnessing just how scared and exhausted these individuals are. Overall, the packaging is great, the film thrills, and the inside information gained from viewing the Curse of the Blair Witch clears up any questions you may have concerning symbols used in the film, or the history behind the legend itself. Definitely a must add to any DVD collection. Personally, I would have like to have seen more "newly discovered footage," but rumor is, that somewhere down the long winding trail, we will see an extensive collector's edition surface. One can only hope.

The Legacy Continues....

One year later, their footage was found. "The Blair Witch Project" is their legacy. It documents the filmmakers' harrowing five-day journey through the Black Hills Forest and captures all of the terrifying events that led up to their disappearance.

Shot on 16mm film by Joshua Leonard with sound recorded by Michael Williams, Heather Donahue both performed the narration for the film and shot it's behind the scenes footage. Heather's High-8 video recordings document the growing rifts and realizations between the filmmakers as each frustrating day and terrifying night passes.

Ultimately written, directed, and edited by Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick, "The Blair Witch Project" is an Artisan Entertainment release of a Haxan Film, produced by Gregg Hale and Robin Cowie.
