October - December 1999

1999-OCT-02: Ain't It Cool News has a review of Sandra's new movie "28 Days" which is about 6 or 7 months from arriving in the theaters in USA. The review is very positive and describes Sandy's role in the movie as "the best role Bullock has ever had." The reviewer also reveals the content of some scenes, so think twice before reading it (this doesn't concern all those who don't care about the plot and watch the movies just because Sandy stars in them :-)
"I'll tell ya, this is the best role Bullock has ever had. There is, actually, quite a lot of depth to the character and she pulls it off convincingly, for the most part. All of the other supporting characters do fine work with a decent script. It [the movie] is worth a look."

1999-OCT-04: Would you like to take a peek at Sandra's new upcoming movie "Gun Shy" and find out how beautiful she looks in it? No problem, Loew's Trailerpark has finally released the trailer of the film in three qualities, just choose the one that suits best for your taste (and/or internet connection). Although Sandy is not on screen too much in this trailer, it's really worth of downloading, she looks very pretty!

1999-OCT-07: Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise will attend Sandra Bullock's big New Year's Eve party at her "part German hunting lodge/part Texas ranch" house at Lake Travis in Austin, TX. As described in this article from Austin360, this event will be "the Austin area's biggest celeb-fest ever" with many guests:
"Sandy, who became fast friends with Nicole while filming "Practical Magic," has been talking about her millennium bash for about two years now and has also been planning a big housewarming party when her new abode [her house in Austin] is completed."

1999-OCT-08: This Reuters article has the answer to my doubts about the exact date of Sandra's presence in Ghent. The article from PRNewswire was right. Sandra Bullock presented the Joseph Plateau's Award to Irwin Winkler on Tuesday, Oct 5th (not on Friday, Oct 8th). Additionally, the article also says that Sandra Bullock herself was given the award too:
"Actress Sandra Bullock and Oscar winning producer Irwin Winkler, were given honorary Joseph Plateau awards for their contribution to the industry at the opening ceremony on Tuesday."

1999-OCT-11: Does Sandy have bodyguards? Is she thinking about giving up on acting? Does she feel like a girl next door? If you want to know the answers, read this cool article at Cyd's Too Cool Sandra Bullock Page. It's a report from the Flanders Film Festival in Ghent. In the interview, Sandra Bullock reveals some details about what kind of a person she really is. And it's fun! I bet that if you haven't done so yet, you will fall in love with her after reading this article. Sandy is a great person!

1999-OCT-14: So, here's the article from Detroit News about violence and nudity in the movies. It talks about some movies showing this stuff and also brings up the opinions and points of views. In the end, there is a short note about Sandra's episode of "Action" (the new Hollywood satire), where she had a small role with Jay Mohr, concerning the videotape with a special content:
"In one Action episode its lead character, a venal Hollywood producer, surreptitiously videotapes himself having sex with actress Sandra Bullock, then sells it on the Internet as While You Were Sleeping ... On My Face."

1999-OCT-16: This Is London has an article which says that women are about to overtake men as the heaviest smokers in the country (United Kingdom). Along with the factors like overweight or need to relax, the article also mentions that the incidence of cigarettes and smoking featuring in blockbuster movies has leapt in the latter part of the Nineties adding another powerful influence to teenage smokers. One of the movies is also Sandra's "The Net." Well, excuse me? That one scene with Sandy holding a cigarette in her hand (she wasn't smoking!) is supposed to bring young girls to smoke? Hehehe!

1999-OCT-20: MSNBC News - You might have known that Sandra Bullock played a computer hacker whose identity is stolen by evil villains as she struggles to save the world from a catastrophic computer virus. Yes, we're talking about "The Net," a 1995 Columbia Pictures thriller. Probably less known is the fact that in 1996 Sandra also quietly invested several million dollars in a privately held Internet security company called NetEx, becoming one of the first of a growing number of Hollywood celebrities to stake a claim on the WWW.

1999-OCT-24: According to this article from Austin360, Sandra Bullock sat ringside at Barnum's Kaleidoscape at Highland Mall in Austin, TX on October 13. Bullock got her tickets through the circus clown David Larible, a good friend. There is also one event mentioned near the end of the article: when Sandy realized that she was blocking the 4-year-old kid's view, she gave her the best seat in the house - on her lap... This is so sweet, isn't it?

1999-OCT-27: National Enquirer has the article about the wacky ways stars beat stress. The stars reveal how they usually relieve stress at the end of the day. Our beloved Sandra Bullock heads to her Austin, TX ranch for peace and quiet - to relax and visit friends. Here's what Sandy had to say to this topic:
"I hang with the pooches, watch the grass grow, visit with friends and revel in just doing nothing."

1999-NOV-02: If you are interested, you can try this spellbinding quiz at National Enquirer. All you have to do is to match the actress with the bewitching role she played. Sandra Bullock is also a part of this quiz, take a guess which movie it concerns :-) Perhaps I would have found it even quite interesting if they hadn't included the correct answers key right below the quiz on the same (!) page. This time it is quite useless, I think.

1999-NOV-05: San Francisco Chronicle has a list of the last week's top video rentals according to Billboard Magazine. Sandra Bullock's movie "Forces of Nature" is in the 15th place this week (was 7th last week) after 4 weeks of being in the Top 20. Keanu Reeves' "Matrix" remains in the first place. Check out the complete list here at San Francisco Chronicle.

1999-NOV-07: Here's another article from Austin360 concerning Sandra Bullock's big New Year's Eve party. This event is going to be something great, I think. The article talks about another guest for the party: actress Elisabeth Shue. Although Sandy and Elisabeth have never made a movie together there is a connection between them. Shue and her producer-husband Davis Guggenheim are close friends of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Yo, this is an explanation.

1999-NOV-10: According to this article from VARIETY.COM, MGM and Sandra Bullock have teamed on the spec script "Wildest Dreams," a "Ghost"-like love story about a woman who gets through the death of her husband with the help of supernatural elements. Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk's script comes with Bullock's Fortis Films attached to produce:
"[In this movie] Sandra Bullock hopes to star as a woman whose new husband dies in an accident. Two years later, she's emotionally closed off, until a series of dreams show her a mysterious man who can help her rise above her grief."

1999-NOV-14: Austin360: Who might have got this idea? To send Matthew McConaughey a gift of this special kind for his birthday? Was it Sandra Bullock? Well, read the article and try to make your own point of view. The three cheerleaders, who lifted their skirts and bared their buns to reveal the message "Happy Birthday Matthew," were namely that birthday gift. Uh, this sure sounds pretty funny, doesn't it? However, I'd prefer someone else (hint: look at the pictures on this website). :-)
"Matthew McConaughey has been having fun with his new notoriety, or at least his friends have. NYC columnists Rush & Molloy report that at his belated 30th birthday bash in L.A. last Saturday, Bongo Boy was treated to a performance by three cheerleaders (a gift from a "special friend") who shook their pompoms to a poem that recalled Matt's arrest. As a finale, the trio lifted their skirts and bared their buns to reveal the message "Happy Birthday Matthew." As for the identity of the special friend, the smart money's on Sandra Bullock, who has a history of fleshy communiques. Harry Connick Jr. found out that he got the male lead of "Hope Floats," for instance, when Sandy lifted her shirt to reveal a scrawled "You got the part!"

1999-NOV-15: Reuters - This news article says that the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards hosted by Heather Locklear and Sean "Puffy" Combs will take place at New York's Armory on Dec. 5. The cable network's flagship awards show brings together designers, models, rock stars and others to award stylish displays. Sandra Bullock is on board as a presenter along with Samuel L. Jackson, Julianna Margulies, Sharon Stone and Charlize Theron.

1999-NOV-20: Upcomingmovies.com has the info we all have been waiting for. The release date of Sandra's new upcoming movie "28 Days" is currently set to April 14th, 2000. Of course, it is a possible subject to change. For all of you who haven't heard about this flic before, it's about a big-city newspaper columnist (Sandra Bullock) who is forced to enter a drug and alcohol rehab center after stealing a limousine and crashing it into a house. Thanks to Chrissicom for this info!

1999-NOV-23: A Slovak magazine Markiza (#48/99) with Sandra Bullock on the cover has also an article about her (click here to see the cover picture). The article begins with a short description of Sandra's career, it mentions some older movies and small Sandy's popularity she had that time. After naming the titles of some movies and speaking of roles she had in them, a short note follows about "the girl next door" and "movie breakthru" (Speed) stuffs. Sandy is described not only as a cute and sweet woman but also as an actress with lots of stamina. After that, a short biography follows with a note mentioning her passion for life full of fun. Consequently, the article focuses on Sandy's attitude to men. The relationship with her ex-boyfriend Tate Donovan owns this section, as well as some facts about her love life. So here's what they are about: Sandra says that she's a fool for love and if she's in love, enchanted by a man of her dreams, she's unable to say a word. Another Sandy's quote concerns the artists agencies as the perfect matchmakers. But she doesn't want to have a relationship with an actor who would later leave her for another actress. She prefers simple people. The article then continues with the stuff about Sandra's mother instincts and her first kiss as well as her passion for chocolate and mixed food. Sandra says that she first wanted to have kids without being married but then she decided rather to wait for a fair relationship full of love with a good husband and family. The article finishes with the section about Sandra's movie production company and her future dreams (of a house in the quiet place, far away from the popularity). So, it's nothing we wouldn't have already known. If you are interested, and if you speak Slovak (yeah, I mean all 4 of you outthere :-) you can see the scan of the article here. I didn't translate it because it really wasn't worth of that. All are only well-known facts and there was no interview there. Here's also the scan of the article picture in a better quality. Enjoy!!!

1999-NOV-25: This gossip article from New York Daily News again confirms the fact that Sandy likes having fun very much. It says that Sandra Bullock, with streaks in her hair, dined with a tableful of scruffy-looking pals at Mr. Chow's on Friday night. Later, she hopped over to Exit nightclub, where she partied with heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis, Donald Trump and Melania Knauss, and Sean (Puffy) Combs... Is this a practice for her big New Year's Eve party? :-)

1999-DEC-01: Mr Showbiz - The People's Choice Awards, determined by the results of a nationwide Gallup poll of 200 million-plus Americans, have announced the contenders in the 26th annual competition. Sandra Bullock is one of the nominees (wow, again!!!) in the category "Motion Picture Actress" along with Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep. Although Sandy won the award last year (as well as two years before that), this time it's going to be a real fight :-) Since Julia Roberts made some very successful movies in the mean time ("notting" special for me though), the chances for her to take the victory are quite high. Oh, if only I had the opportunity to vote for Sandy!!! The show is to be telecast live on January 9, 2000 on CBS. Read more about it here. Thanks to Anny for this info!

1999-DEC-03: You can vote for Sandra Bullock at Teen.com website. She is listed in the category "Best Movie Actress" which is a part of the 1999 Teen.com Entertainment Awards. Other "competitors" in this category are Christina Ricci, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Julia Roberts, Katie Holmes, Julia Stiles, Natalie Portman, Rachael Leigh Cook and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Come on, everyone!!! Let's help Sandy to win!!! Thanks to Cyd for this info!

1999-DEC-04: Austin360: Sandy Bullock is considered as one of the most influential movie figures of the 1990s according to the Austin American-Statesman staff. I just don't understand why she's listed in the last 19th place, she sure should have been a few ranks higher. :-) But thanks at least for this. And nevertheless, the last place is always an advantage (just like the first one) cuz nobody will ever miss it out. Yo, this is very important. :-)

This is the article about Sandra's big New Year's Eve party. It contains some very interesting facts and rumors as well as some funny things connected with "making of" the party. It seems that the whole event is held strictly confidential since there is not much information to go on. Here are the most interesting parts of the article, the full story is available at Austin360 website:
"Meanwhile, the gossip rags are offering big bucks for photos, with some big names being thrown around as invitees, including Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Elisabeth Shue, Ben Affleck and Harry Connick Jr."
"Sandy's publicist won't even acknowledge that the actress is hosting a big party, and all the hired help, from caterers to the construction workers hurrying to finish Bullock's home by Christmas, have reportedly signed confidentiality agreements. But we do know that the Scabs, led by Bullock beau Bob Schneider, will play. And the 50 or so CDs Bullock and her former boyfriend Matthew McConaughey bought Monday at Waterloo Records are an indication that the intermission music will keep the crowd dancing, as funk and disco ruled the pile."
"We also know that florist David Kurio is the boss of botany because his name was on a 14-foot Noble tree at the Enchanted Forest Xmas tree lot last week that an employee said was headed for Bullock's."

1999-DEC-06: PRNewswire - According to Blockbuster survey Sandra Bullock is the 10th most wanted celebrity (actor/actress category) people would like to spend New Year's Eve with. Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts topped the list. Compared to the Blockbuster survey from February where Sandy won in the category Most likely to spend Valentine's Day with, this result might seem to be a little unfavorable. Well, it's a romantic person who people consider Sandy to be. I agree but... I'd like to spend New Year's Eve with her either. Who says this cannot be romantic too? :-)

1999-DEC-08: Ok, so here's this week's top event news... The VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards is that event which was most awaited by all Sandra Bullock fans. Sandra Bullock was namely a presenter at the show - she introduced the band "Beck." Here is some information from the internet news sites (big thanks to all of you who told me about at least one of them):

Yahoo! has some pictures from the show - Sandra Bullock with designer Donna Caran and Sandra Bullock on the stage. Wow! Sandy looks fantastic!

BBC website also offers the pictures from the show on their news pages.

Following the links from BBC, I came to the official VH1's website where you can find loads of stuff about the event. Here is the Red Carpet Webcam video showing Sandra Bullock from the second half of its running time.
Then you can check out the image gallery containing many pictures from the show. This is the photo of Sandra Bullock with Cindy Crawford. Sandra sure rules the picture!

New York Daily News mentions the VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards too. Check out the full article at their website:
"Not everyone was happy to look pretty for the cameras. When Sandra Bullock was asked to pose with Cindy Crawford, she exclaimed, "What are you, nuts? I'm not standing next to her! She's a supermodel ..."

FOX News also has an article about the show, here's the part concerning Sandra Bullock's outfit:
"I guess what really disturbed me is how pathetic this whole generation of "celebrities" is. It's not much to look forward to - except of course Sandra Bullock's throwback outfit, which must have been a clever parody of Sheena Easton, circa 1984."

1999-DEC-12: The Times has a really cool article! Oh, yeah! It is an interview from the Flander's Film Festival which took place in Ghent, Belgium on October 8. In this article you can find some very interesting facts about Sandra Bullock, she reveals many things from her life and what kind of person she really is. She talks about her new movies "28 Days" and "Gun Shy" as well as about her movie production company. Well, this interview shows it again - Sandra is such a great person, and whoohoo she likes fun!!!

1999-DEC-14: A Slovak magazine Eurotelevizia (#52/99) has a short note about Sandra's big New Year's Eve party in its gossip section. It mentions the guests who should attend this event - the names are the likes of Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Matthew McConaughey. There is also a cute picture of Sandra Bullock there. I hope I will make a scan of it soon. Well, now it's pretty confusing since Tom and Nicole were believed not to attend the party (due to filming in Australia on Dec. 31) as described in the article from Austin360 a few days ago. We'll see the truth later...

[2nd update]: As I promised, here's the scan of the picture from Eurotelevizia magazine. Click here to see the picture. Enjoy!!!

1999-DEC-15: Well, what do we have here today? This article from New York Daily News says that Sandra Bullock and her ex-boyfriend Matthew McConaughey avoided each other at the Christmas party thrown by buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at the Continental in L.A. on Friday night. According to the article, Sandy even flashed her catty side by coaxing a gal pal into making rude faces at McConaughey all night. Hehe! Sandy sure knows how to make reporters to write about her. I just wonder what could happen there, I hope it's not that bad as it seems...

1999-DEC-16: VARIETY.COM says that Warner Bros. and producer Aaron Meyerson have set up "Crazy Jane," a character from the DC comic book anthology Doom Patrol who's "Sybill" in spandex: she has a multiple personality disorder, with each manifestation possessing a different superpower. Buzz had Sandra Bullock circling the project as potential star and producer, but a spokeswoman denied that she would be involved, and WB has been wooing her hard to star in its "Wonder Woman" film. Well, it seems like everyone wants to see Sandra Bullock in a comic character role. I guess she'd be fantastic, we just have to wait how she decides at last. As for myself, I'm for it.

1999-DEC-19: Austin360: Oh, I think this is sooooo sweet!!! I am totally speechless!!! This article says that Sandra Bullock hit local stores to buy the gifts, donned a red and white Santa hat and handed out dolls, train sets, clothes and other goodies to about 35 children at the Saba Blue Water Cafe on West Fourth Street. These children are infected with human immunodeficiency virus or have AIDS or have a parent with the disease. I'm sorry for being so sentimental but this really made my heart melt. You are so wonderful, Sandy Bullock!!! I love you forever!!! Here is what Sandy said about the kids:
"When you're out doing your own shopping, what's the harm in stopping to pick up extra toys or fix a meal? These kids are going to be running our country, so we have to make sure we care for them."

1999-DEC-22: Hollywood.com: This short gossip article has some small tidbits about the upcoming Hollywood projects. It also mentions the movie "Tomb Raider" (based on the popular Eidos Interactive's video games) which is possibly to be directed by Simon West. Sandra Bullock and Elisabeth Hurley have been tossed around as possible candidates to play Lara Croft (the main character role). Well, this news is quite old, I really thought that Sandra Bullock had already refused the role (this was mentioned in the articles some time ago). But now, she is concerned again. Pretty confusing... I just hope they'll start to make the movie soon, it's taking them so long. :-)

1999-DEC-28: Austin360 has yet one more article about Sandra's big New Year's Eve party "behind the scenes" preparations. It says that Sandy's house will not be completed in time, the party will be taking place in another location. The article also reveals more from the party's guestlist. Here's what it is about:
"[Sandra's] new house will not be completed in time, so she's reportedly hosting her bash at an alternate site, apparently a Barton Creek Country Club parking lot. That info's unconfirmed, but I can relate with some certainty that Griffin Dunne, who helmed the Bullock-Kidman vehicle "Practical Magic," will be there. He told his dinner companions in NYC last week that he'd be partying with Sandy. And don't be surprised if newly official lovebirds Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger show up. Katy native Renee usually spends the holidays in these parts..."
