BIOGRAPHY

Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson first graced this earth with his presence on January 3, 1956.  Although he is widley beleived to be from Australia, he was actually born in Peekskill, NY.  He moved to Sydney with his family when he was 12, because his father didn't want his sons to be drafted to Vietnam. 

While in Australia, he attended Sydney's National Institute for Dramatic Arts, and his big screen debut came in 1977 in the film "Summer City".

Since then, his fame and popularity has only grown, and he has become one of Hollywoods most bankable leading men.  He has shown his talent as a comic actor, a dramatic actor and an action hero.  Most recently, he also proved to be an extremely talented director, winning an Oscar for "Braveheart".
