***Despite being an Everton supporter,Michael began to learn his trade in the youth ranks of bitter local rivals Liverpool.

***He made his debut for the first team on 6th May 1997,in the peultimate leagie game of the season against Winbledon at Selhurst Park.He came on in the 57th minute in place of Partrick Berger,and,in the 74th minute scored his first goal .Unfortunately,Liverpool lost 2-1.
