FILMOGRAPHY

"Most of the roles I'm offered are so stereotypical it makes me sick," __Christina Ricci *adding that teeangers are absolutely not as dumb or unthinking as Hollywood might have you believe.*

    Interesting Facts

Christina was on Entertainment Tonight (ET) *i think*. They were interviewing her on the premier of her movie The Ice Storm. She talked about how she loved Steve *one of the other actors* and how he was telling her what to do at the premier. --Sorry I can't really remember exactly what she said. Something like "...look to the left and smile now look to the right..."

MERMAIDS - In this comedy, Chris and Winona Ryder play sisters who are totally embarrassed by their wacky, sexy mother, played by Cher. Since the film, Christina has confessed that her inst-starlet status prompted some obnoxious behavior on her part-and her buddies weren't big on it. Quote "They were like, 'Christina has total attitude.' And I sort of did. That doesn't work with kids, and I learned mighty quick that you can't do that."

THE HARDWAY - In this movie Christina was only in it for about 5 min., but, her character was well played. The movie stars Michael J. Fox as a bratty actor who attaches himself to a cop to prepare for his next movie role.

THE CEMETARY CLUB - This is a story about people over 50 who are coming to terms with getting older, but who still feel young at heart. Chris, though still young herself, can understand the conflict: She doesn't think the way people behave necessarily has to do with their age. Quote "I think it just has to do with how you are and how you feel."

THE ADDAMS FAMILY - Based on the popular cartoon and the 1960s TV series of the same name, The Addams Family features Chris as a spooky, weird, Addams daughter, Wednesday. It was for that role that Hollywood really reognized her amazing talent and natural acting instincts. Quote "Barry [Sonnenfeld, the director] wanted me to raise an eyebrow, and he kept saying, 'Okay, now just look at him funny,' And I was like, 'Good direction.' "

ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES - In this sequel, Christina said she wasn't happy with her performance. Quote "I'm kind of upset with myself because I can see I messed up so many lines. The first movie I did fine in, but the second one I didn't do the some Wednesday."

CASPER - When Christina found out she'd earned a starring role in this live-action movies based on the cartoon TV series, she wasn't sure what to think. Quote "I was like, 'Casper the Friendly Ghost? Will my friends think this is cool?' Then I heard I'd have a love scene with Casper! I mean, how friendly is he?"

GOLD DIGGERS: THE SECRET OF BEAR MOUNTAIN - Christina pairs with Anna Chlumsky in this buddies-on-a-quest-for-buried-treasure pic packed with physical firsts for the actresses. Quote "We had to swing across a gorge, and being used to the laws in Los Angeles about kids doing stunts, we had no idea. I did it, but they hadn't told us I wouldn't be doing it."

NOW AND THEN - this movie is about four friends during their last summer of adolescence, Christina says she found some common ground with her character, Roberta. Quote "She was always trying to hide her chest. Being 14 and playing 12-year-olds, I was always having to do that, too. They would put me in these really tight sports bras, so I realated to that a lot." According to her she has really nothing in common with her character. Quote "The only thing that I have that is kind of like her is that she's sort of blunt and cutting. Sometimes I do that."

"I didn't try to act 12," says Ricci, 15. "When people try to act younger, they come off looking stupid."

THAT DARN CAT - this is an earlier version of the 1965 movie. Quote "My character, Patti Randall, has a bad case of typical teenage angst. Patti hates her small town; it's completely boring to her and so is everyone who lives there. Patti realizes there are a lot of wacky and completely oddball people living there so she ultimately decides the town is not that bad after all."

ICE STORM - In this story set in the 70s about a dysfunctional family, which "Wendy" was so appealingly different. "No one ever deals with the shame that goes along with your first sexual encounter," she says of Wendy's woes. "To encounter it in the script was amazing."

Christina's complained that it was her wardrobe that was really dysfunctional. Quote "I was forced to wear hip-hugger sailor pants and "toe socks" with a different thing for each toe, like gloves for your feet. Disgusting! And Ang Lee [the movie's director] LOVED them. I couldn't talk him out of them" Ang Lee: "I have to do the least to get the most out of her." Also rumour has it that Elijah and Christina didn't get along and didn't enjoy locking lips.

"I had always thought that '70s were kind of an ugly period. I had always thought that people were kind of immoral, I guess from growing up in an age where safe sex is so advocated," admits Ricci. The binder didn't help much. "I don't have a high opinion of the '70s," she says with a sigh.

LAST OF THE HIGH KINGS - Set in Ireland during the summer of 1977, Christina plays a visiting American teen who catches the eye of a Dublin teenager played by Prefontaine's JARED LETO.

FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS - Ricci says she had read Hunter S. Thompson's 1971 cult classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas long before signing to do the movie with Johnny Depp. "I must be one of the only people who didn't like the book," she says of Thompson's drug-addled escapades. "It made me feel really icky. Of course, I read it when I was 10, so I probably wasn't ready for it at that age."

OPPOSITE OF SEX - May 22 1998 - Quote "When I read the part, I was like, 'I have to audition for this?' Dedee's so much like me."

BUFFALO '66 - June 26 1998 *?* - Ricci plays a tap dancer who is kidnapped and forced to pose as Gallo's adoring wife for his pigskin-obsessed parents Quote " I'm not sarcastic once in the film, which is a record for me." . Gallo hand picked her, after falling in love with her face in Adams Family, he said that he had a crush on Ricci "her whole life". "It's nice to hear," she said "Very nice to hear. I don't know if I believe it, but it's nice of him to say it.

Christina has learned alot from her past experiences with the actresses she has worked with. From Anjelica she learned elegance and grace. She admits she was a bit of a clutz when she was younger.Quote"In real life, Anjelica is just as graceful and elegant as Morticia, and it's good for me, because I trip all the time, especially walking up the stairs and stuff." From Cher one of her close friends( she spends her weekends at her house when she is in L.A. ) she has learned a sense of style. Quote"Style is a sense of of who you are and what what you look like. Cher is great because she's so definite. She'll say, 'That looks terrific on you.' " Noting her poise, she has even been compared to Jodie Foster her idol. As far as Christina is concerned, Jodie belongs in a class all by herself. Quote"She's succeeded in something amazing. You can't compare her to anyone. She's her own level."

Is 18-year-old actress Christina Ricci reeling from overwork? "I did all of them in the last year. I graduated high school [in Manhattan], and it gave me a chance to do one film after the other," says Ricci. "It's kinda like when you have a list of chores and you get to the end, you're like, 'What now?'"

She confesses to some qualms about Hollywood's pressure to look and "act all the same," but she's not feeling too much angst about it. "I still think it's kind of exciting, I still think that working on movies and being a part of film-making is kind of exciting," she says. "I want to keep on acting. That's what I want to do.

But she's in no rush to leap into adult roles. "It's not the age I play, it's the subject matter and how you deal with it," she maintains.
