John Robie is a retired burgler living in high style on the Riviera;
he was known as "the cat".
Now he has to find out a new "cat" who is copying his "way"
of working; he wants to keep this new wave of jewel thefts from
being pinned on him.
He meets Jessie Stevens who is in Europe to help her daughter
Frances find a good husband; she is one of the copycat's victims
and, at the beginning, she is not sure of Robie's innocence.
During a party John catches the thief after a run on roofs using
his "old cat" ability and at the same time he catches Frances' heart too.
