Cradle in the Grave: 'Cradle' Status
Some
interesting bits from Beaver (Jet Li's Assistant) on the Jet Propulsion
newsletter for this week. According to Beaver, they are coming into the
tail end of the production for Cradle 2 the Grave, here's what he
has to say:
So what are we doing now? Well, there is this tremendous over-the-top action sequence at the end of the film. It involves a lot of explosions, automatic weapons fire, jumping, kicking, punching, sweating ... anyway ... that's what's going on. As for Jet, his character this time around really oozes Hollywood bad-ass and coolness. Some of you may have already seen photos of him. Production gave him this really funky haircut with hair sticking out in every direction.
As far as fighting is concerned, hard core and explosive are two expressions that come to mind. Some of you may have read the articles about the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters being in the movie. Those guys really meant business and were incredibly tough. That first day when we shot the fighting scene, I was genuinely afraid for Jet. Even though those guys looked mean, I knew they would not intentionally start a fight with Jet, but my main concern was if these guys might miss the rhythm of the action and accidentally fly into Jet. The first guy Jet fought with was this monster of a man -- truly scary. Since he was not a stunt man, when he charged at Jet, he was really charging at Jet! It's at these times when one truly appreciates Jet's quickness. If Jet didn't dodge him on time it would have been like a bull-dozer going 50 miles per hour smashing into a watermelon -- CRASH!!!! It would have been ugly. I'm happy to say Jet evaded the man gracefully at every! turn. It looked good live and I hope it translates well onto the big screen.
