Anne Ramsey |
Quoting Anne from Throw Momma From The Train ... Momma: Owen! Food! Owen: In a minute, Momma. Momma: Don't you "In a minute, Momma" me! Get off your fat little ass or I'll break it for you! I want two soft boiled eggs, white toast, and some of that grape jelly god damn it! And don't burn the toast! Lines that are classic...for more of her quotes from that movie, go here. Ann Ramsey was, in my opinion, among the BEST. They really don't make em like Anne anymore. How about her as Mama in "The Goonies?"...."Trust your dear old mother boys. Throw 'er into four-wheel drive and hold on to your hats." Classic, just classic!! For a complete list of Anne's credits, go here. Anne was born Anne Mobley, September 1, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. She began acting at the Rosemary Hall School for girls and later majored in Drama at Bennington College in Vermont. Her 37 year career started in summer stock theatre work where she met her husband, character actor Logan Ramsey. They worked at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia together, appearing in its first production. In 1971, she starred opposite her husband in The Sporting Club and then settled into small bit parts. However, when she became noticed for her plunty, gruff and tough womenly roles, and sheer naural talent, she got more offers for films. Contrary to her onscreen persona, Anne was a very sweet and kindly person in her everyday life. Very generous with her money, and her time. The pinnacle of her career came with her Academy Award nomination for her appearance in "Throw Momma From the Train." In the mid-80's, Anne found out she was suffering from throat cancer and by early 1988, she had moved into the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles. She still continued to work even months before her death in 1988. Ramsey died of throat cancer at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 59. She is buried in an unmarked grave at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Omaha, Nebraska. Click here to visit her grave. TRIVIA: Died just three and a half months after receiving her Oscar nomination for Throw Momma from the Train (1987). |
